This is by far one of my favorite Amber Lagers as well as one of my favorite beers period. I'm a big fan of almost over the top hoppy Lagers and this takes the cake. As soon as you pour this beer the combination of the smell and the red amber appearance make your mouth water. This is one of those craft beers that goes down like an American Light beer. I could have 6 done and not even realize it. Fantastic.

Appearance: It pours crystal clear amber to almost a red color and is topped with ½” of white rather large bubbles.
Smell: It smells of malt and very slight hops.
Taste: The taste isn’t quite what I was expecting it has a nice malt backbone and a sweetness that is a nice surprise. The finish is slightly hoppy with the sweetness to blend which makes for a tasty brew.
Mouthfeel: Nice and thick which lets the flavor stick around but easy to drink. This is another great session beer from Great Lakes Brewing with awesome flavor for the style.

I used to drink this all the time when I lived in Cleveland, but for no good reason it's fallen off my radar of late. I thought it was time to bring it back for a review.

A - Amber-brown, with crystal clarity and 2 solid fingers of dense foam with impressive retention. Leaves noticeable lacing on the sides of the Sam Adams inverted-bowling-pin glass.

S - Warm, toasty malts, dried fruits and a subtle undercurrent of hops.

T - A gorgeous mix of bitter and sweet, with the dried fruit aroma carrying over into the taste along with spice and enough chewy maltiness to give the beer body without making it the least bit heavy.

M - Medium viscosity with a kick of solid carbonation to make it bounce on the tongue. Keeps it light.

O - A combination of complex flavour and complete refreshment, and the taste lingers surprisingly long in the mouth. At less than $8.00/6 pack this is a mind-blowingly good deal. With 6.2% abv it's a bit robust for a session beer, but my glass is empty and damned if I'm not going to have another.
