2009 Vintage. 22 oz bottle.
A - Clear, very dark brown colored, nearly black. Small, tightly formed, long lasting ring of tannish head. Little lacing. Nice and thicke looking (like Alan Thicke).
S - Big cocoa, chocolate, burnt roasty aromas. Nice sweet vanilla-like oaky smell with a very pleasant sweet bourbon presence. Very well balanced and quite inviting.
F/M - Again, big chocolate up front. Followed by loads of sweet dark malts, roasty flavors and lots of vanilla and bourbon. The flavors meld seemlessly from rich to smooth, with a nice lingering chocolaty finish. The alcohol gets slightly noticeable as it warms, but it is very enjoyable. Medium full bodied with moderate carbonation.
D - Definitely one of the best imperial stouts I've had in a while. Smooth, rich, tasty, and with noticeable barrel character. World class.
