Pours an amber color but not clear. White foam topping. Smells of caramel and roasted malt. In the taste, fruity, sugary and toasty malt. Caramel and light leafy hoppiness. Toffee, light smoke, brown sugar, and citrusy hop. Nice balanced taste between sweet malt and hops.

A- Pours a reddish brown color with a fairly thin egg shell colored head. Head has ok retention and leaves some nice spotty lacing.

S- Smell is quite a bit of sweet, caramel malts and maybe a bit of a roasted malts too. A bit of a tea like feel to it.

T- Follows the nose really well. A great amount of sweetness pretty much no bitterness at all.

M- Fuller side of medium in body and a good amount of carbonation.

D- Very easy to drink. I wouldn't mind seeing this one come around more often.

This beer is currently available again as a pub exclusive at the Great Lakes Brewery. I had a pint last night. This beer is a clear brown/copper color color. White head was 2/3-3/4 inch when served to me. Sets to a medium sized white ring lining the inside of the glass. Nice lacing too. This beer has a quite malty smell along with a mild hop presence and perhaps some fruit. The smell of alcohol is also slightly present. Has a sweet, malty taste that is well balanced with a bit of hop bitterness. Fairly sweet taste for a beer, but not overly sweet. Has a nice crisp, smooth and creamy full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Very easy to drink. Great Lakes does it again with another excellent beer!

Pours a viscous thick, deep orange color and nothing but a white foam ring. Faint nose of hard candies, mellow roasted malts, and light fruits. Mellow burnt malt notes aren’t overpowering but also not enough. Strong tea characters and a sweetness like Splenda or Nutrisweet. Nice balanceof hops that offer some good bitterness and “green” flavors. Finish is too clean with hop notes trailing off to nothing. Low carbonation is expected but unlike its thick pour the mouth ends up on the watery side, not what I want from a scotch. On the good side at 8.3 abv the alcohol is hardly noticable making this brew fairly drinkable.

Just had this fro the first time tonight on tap.

It poured a amber-brown with a great head that lasted through out the entire beer. Yes even at the very bottom there was still a bit of head.

the smell was that of barley, oats... etc, and it was very clean smelling.

the taste was quite strong and stark clearness about it. it was very smooth and tasted great like a ale should and no after taste. I was very imprssed with this beer and would recommend it to everyone! Great lakes ceases to amaze!

Reddish brown in color and crystal clear, the beer was eye candy. There wasn't much of a head but the lacing made up for it. The foam is tan in color and is also very creamy. Head retention wasn't up to par, but then again the lacing made up for it. When agitated it thickened up a bit but there was never a nice full blown head on this beer.

Sweet to the nose and mouth as well. This beer smelled and tasted great. The aroma of this beer was largely influenced by a malt presence. A mild hop presence in beer adds some bitterness to help balance out the overall malt characteristic of this beer. The beer had an almost candy like flavor, sweet, but overpowering sweet.

Lightly carbonated and very smooth on the palate. It feels quite even in the mouth. Very nice mouthfeel. Creamy and "round" (thats the only word I can think of to descrbe it). The great flavor and mouthfeel along with the appearance of this beer make it very drinkable. However, I feel that one could easily get sick of the taste of the beer were they to drink too much of this beer. This beer is only served at the brewpub, and I will buy it agian next time I visit the brewery when it is on tap.
