A - Rye of the Tiger pours totally hazy and golden in color, topped by an intense ivory head that last forever! Thick, chunky lace cakes the glass with sticky foam nearly impossible to see through!
S - Pungent citrus notes from American hops billow out with lemongrass, juicy honeydew melon, and grapefruit skin followed by light pine resin and spicy rye notes. Sweet malt presents some balance on the finish but lingers in the background fearfully.
T - Sticky, resiny hops remain up front, touting strong fruitiness that mirrors the aroma and finishes just the same; mellow sweet malt that balances but doesn't intrude. Rye adds a finishing bite of sharp spice that's not to be ignored.
M - This Rye IPA creeps up smoothly, inching forward with a soft malt feel before attacking with hard rye spice and an aggressive hoppy bitterness bite on the finish, drying the palate out, begging for one more sip.
O - Rye of the Tiger resembles it's label quite well; a tiger lying in wait, ready to attack it's prey. We're the prey and we're subdued by sweet fruity nuances and smooth malt, only to be bitten by hoppy bitterness and a firm rye snap. This is a hophead's dream; a wonderful IPA laced with a good helping of rye.
