Review taken almost a week ago. The day it hit the shelves here in Kentucky.

12 oz brown bottle with a prowling Tiger in the high grass. Wonderful artwork and GLBC always have appealing labels. This may be my new favorite from the boys from Cleveland. It's beautiful with a nice distribution. Poured this into a nonic pint glass. It seemed fitting to me.

A - Honey golden orange with a copper hue. Stained white head sits on top this clear liquid. Head is frothy and leaves a unmatched amount of sticky lace coating the entire glass once finished.

S - Hops and hops. Bright fruit and citrus. Rye spices and malt play 2nd fiddle but don't be fooled.. Nothing goes unnoticed in this aroma.

T - Wow. This has big time hop character. I mean punching your palate and kicking it even after its hit the floor. Somewhat citrusy with plenty of old school grapefruit hop flavors. Also a bit grassy and fresh hops that don't stop at the green. There's some earthy notes in here as well. Malt is again the backbone. Not a lot of sweetness, but the rye and spiciness create a solid 1-2-3 combination of punches. How fitting for this ale. This has IPA written all over it with a steady wave of rye character and a sturdy bitter finish.

M - Rye of the Tiger is meant to be sipped. It's big in the mouth and the bitterness is there. A real hop head's ale. Even at only 7.5% it's a big boy's brew and delicious at that. Mouthfeel reminds me a lot of straight rye whiskey from Kentucky. Not easy to down but damn enjoyable nonetheless.

O - I had high hopes for this and it exceded my expectations. I like rye IPAs/ales and Rye of the Tiger is a race winner. I'm a bit surprised this wasn't offered in bottles all along. I have always had loads of respect for GLBC, but the things they are doing so far in 2013 just take them higher and higher up the craft ladder. It's good to see an 'old faithful', 'never let you down' type brewery releasing bold new stuff that should I say is out of their comfort zone bottle wise and not just releasing it, but doing it with style and quality. The sky is the limit for these guys and it's good to see them reaching for that same sky a lot of us know they can reach. More great things to come from GLBC? I think so. Better yet, I know so. What a treat Rye Of the Tiger is.

Really solid IPA - nice appearance - towering fluffy white head nice lacing. Smells of piney / citrus hops. Taste follows the nose - resinous, hop forward and nicely balanced with a sweet malt back bone. Drying and bitter aftertaste lingers on the palate.

Overall, rock solid IPA that I will definitely have again.

Poured Rye of the Tiger IPA into a Belgian Tulip.

A - Pours a clear light orange with a finger of white creamy head.

S - The aroma is of mango, pine, grapefruit, light citrus.

T - On first taste I get rye right off the bat, with some bitter hops and grapefruit juice. Mid palate getting more spiciness from the rye, some malt to balance the animal nicely. On the aftertaste getting more smooth malts with rye spiciness. Yum!

M - Medium mouthfeel with medium carbonation.

O - Nice rye beer here. Recommended! Cheers!
