Poured into my pils glass a light yellow with fluffy white head and lots of bubbles floating upward. Smells a bit earth like with grass and grain aromas. Taste is crisp, slightly thin at first then has a bit of a dry finish with some grassy hop flavors. Overall I find this pils to be super drinkable and a solid example of the style.

On tap at Claddagh

Apparance: Typical pilsner look. Straw yellow color with a one finger white head

Smell: Floral/lemongrass/grainy malts

Taste: Starts off grassy/grainy then fades into light citrus

Mouthfeel: Light as a pilsner shoud be with a dry, slightly bitter finish

Overall: I didn't emphasize on this beer too much because its not too interesting, but for a pilsner it's solid. Its bittersweet and crisp. I feel like they do lagers much better, but this is not at all bad. I think I've enjoyed just about every beer by Great Lakes. Cheers!

This pours out a very light straw-gold color with an initial half-inch head. Nice flowery hop aroma, quite big. Definitely on the hoppy end of the style, the taste greets you with a high bitterness, and lots of noble hop flavor. Really, this feels more like a German than Czech pils. Malt is light, as is the body, with a very dry finish. This is a good quaffing pils. Very nice.

Poured from a 12 fl. oz. bottle into a pilsner glass. For freshest taste, please enjoy by: 08/19/14.

Appearance: Pours a beautiful light yellow golden body with a solid white head. Nice carbonation - looks great!

Smell: Smell of grassy metallic hops. Very little malt sweetness. Somewhat grainy.

Taste: Malt is not as bready as I would expect in a Czech pilsner. Hops are more grassy and herbal than the balanced spiciness I expect from Saaz hops.

Mouthfeel: Very nice, light and refreshing.

Overall: I was expecting more from this one. Happy to get my hands on it either way (although I had to go across the border to DC).

Brown bottle into a 14 oz. pilsner glass
BB 08/14/14
A: Very light haystraw color with not much loosish white head. Some lacing evident with small lingering "patterns" around the glass. A good amount of carbonation. Second bottle yielded much more head. Two fingers or so and slow to recede.

S: Malted barley, grainy, bready with little hop character detected.

T: Similar to the smell but hops are definitely present with a very agreeable herbal or floral taste. Good snappy hop bitterness. Of course the crispness of the malts from the nose is the frontrunner, finishing with the bitter hop note. Well balanced and very drinkable. Very nice. I like it a lot.

M: Light body as expected but not as light as the color would indicate. Quite dry with crisp, snappy and again dry finish. Good carbonation tingle.

O: Pleasantly surprised as this is my first Great Lakes product. I would definitely return to this at the price of $16/12.

Appearance: Pours with a finger of head which settled in slightly but was very present while drinking. The color is a golden straw yellow color with great transparency. Active carbonation is bright, probably a touch above average for the style.

Smell: Crisp clean hops pop right away. Those hops are complimented by a buttery, creamy malt profile. A second layer of hops bringing more freshly cut grass and straw show up on the body. The yeast profile is clean yet surprisingly complex.

Taste: Great tropical fruit hop profile blasts on to the scene. Those hops draw out to more of a grassy profile on the body with a malt profile filled with buttery and full bodied biscuits. Clean malts and yeast on the back end really allow the hops to shine.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and clean, with tons of hops that leave a semi-dryness on the palate. Carbonation is spot on.

Overall: A truly outstanding czech pils from an American brewery. The hops really shine here but a creamy malt profile and crisp yeast notes are so well done. This is a great pils that is a no brainer as a summer seasonal.

Golden yellow in color with perfect clarity. Poured with a short, dense, white foam that quickly reduced to a wispy cap. Sweet bready malt and floral hop aromas with earthy grass, lemon zest and toasted malt notes. Medium bodied with assertive, tangy, crisp carbonation and a clean semi-dry finish. Bready, biscuity malt flavors up front followed by tangy, herbal hops through the middle. Hop bitterness gradually intensifies from the middle to the end as this finished semi-dry with lingering hop bitterness and biscuity notes.
