I enjoyed this chilled in a cervoise from the 12oz. brown bottle

The color is golden with resplendent clarity and thick 2 finger white head with fined bead with lace that sticks well. There is a must mineral aroma with light sweet malt accent and slight herbal hop ester with the yeast ester dominating. The feel is very smooth with moderate carbonation and moderately spicy texture with bitterness in appropriate level with mild sweetness in the finish with mild alcohol and spiced dry finish.

The taste is pretty decent with spiciness of the Czech hops with light herbal taste and gentle malt backing up the hops with slight toastiness - the yeast is the core of the taste with european influence which is heavy on the mineral with a bit of musty and dry flavor and light grassy herbal hops surround the malt with bitter flavor yet more spicy almost peppery in taste indicating saaz to me which fits the style. Not as mellow as a German pils, but in general a nice interpretation of the style and a very drinkable hoppy lager

A GREAT beer. A crisp, full flavored pilsner, that is one of the best beers ever (if you are a german pilsner fan). I'd rate it higher except maybe some day there will be another beer better. I had this in a bottle several years ago and did not like it. Had it recently on tap and it was wonderful, so I picked up a six pack to try it in the bottle. Just as good!
The moral of this story is to try a beer more than once- that first bottle may have been really old- or my taste buds off.
I can't account for other reviews that are not stellar; other than to think that those reviewers do not like pilsners. After almost 50 years of beer drinking, I think I can say that the current trend of overly hopped ales will pass, and good pilsners (which is harder to make- you can't cover things up with more hops) will become more appreciated.
