Aroma- spicy floral hops used (Saaz). Some complex barely use hits the nose in a pleasant and appropriate level. Clean lager-like smell. No diacetyl.

Appearance- Very clear like a magnifying glass. Yellow to light gold in color. Creamy white head which disappears rather quickly.

Flavor- Some rich maltiness that is very well balanced by the spicy and floral Saaz hop used. Bitter (35-45 IBU) but is balanced from the smooth and sweet malt. Clean lager like taste. After-taste is well balanced with neither hops or malts dominating. No diacetyl.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied with medium to medium-high level of carbonation. No alcohol burn or astringency.

Overall- Crisp, complex malt combined with spicy Saaz hops. Bitterness level is perfect. .Perhaps a slight increase to malt used to provide a little more balanced finish.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a clear straw color. Even for a pilsner, it looks a little light. The head - which required an aggressive pour, mind you - is a one finger white shade with a bubbly texture with decent retention. Good lacing is left behind, also.

S: The first whiff reveals some noble hops along with a faint touch of corn. After that, it develops a really nice tone of stone fruits like peach and apricot, along with some flowery notes. Actually, it's kind of redolent of fruit punch. The aroma, if not spectacular, is nonetheless very promising.

T: It's immediately opened up with some grassy hop bitterness. This aforementioned quality isn't too vegetal, thankfully. The finish is pure bitter fruit punch with a side of floral hops. Great Lakes' house character among their lagers kick ass. It all adds up to one rock-solid pilsner.

M: The piercing, bone dryness I like from my pilsners isn't quite here. Rather, it's a little sweeter, and slightly fuller bodied than the norm, but not so sweet or so thick as to kill drinkability. It's still as crisp and clean as a mutha, with just enough carbonation to help it go down easy.

O: Over a month past the best-by date, and it's still quite good. I could see this one kicking ass fresh; you bet I'll seek this out in the future.

Poured into pilsner, very nice carbonation and a full, resilient foamy head. Light yellow like apple cider or a rich champagne.

Smells strongly of grains, corn, and hops. Some depths of bread and biscuits, very grassy/earthy aroma.

Tastes of corn mostly, crisp enough to enjoy, finishes with mild hops and fizzy bubbles. Taste isn't entirely too complex, in fact, it kind of reminds me of a light macrobrew. Frankly, it is a rather simple beer.
