12 oz bottle poured into a snifter.
9.4% ABV, Enjoy by 05/20/14
A - Bright amber sunrise shines through the clear beer below the cap of frothy white foam that laps ring after ring of sudsy lace on the snifter.
S - Fresh Turkish apricots lend an immediately pleasing fruity aroma to the nose that's graciously followed by pineapple juice concentrate and the fresh smell of springtime cut lawn lingering in the air.
T - Warmed caramel dipping sauce shrouds the tongue in sweetness before being washed away by apricot and pineapple fruitiness, which both transition into an earthy, slightly grassy bitterness on the finish.
M - Chillwave doesn't drink like an ordinary double IPA because it's a little bit thinner; while smooth on the tongue, this brew finishes dry with a snap of quick bitterness.
O - I've found it hard to disagree with a single beer Great Lakes brews and Chillwave is no exception. There are a lot of great fruity and earthy hop complexities to this beer; enough to hold it's own again some of the top dogs of the style. Great beer, bro!
