Very excited to try this given the other reviews, and it did not disappoint. Poured bright orange, just a touch hazy. Foamy and light head that dissipated fairly quickly, with noticeable lacing left behind. Smell was great - tropical and citrus fruit, a little spiciness, breadiness, a touch of pine and a presence of alcohol. Taste was similar - tropical fruit up front with solid bitterness and the fresh dough taste I've found in most Great Lakes beers. Alcohol is there, but is not overpowering. Mouthfeel is on the medium/medium-light side for a DIPA, but makes for an easy drinking 9.4%.

Overall an awesome beer that I'm happy to have found. Given recent revisits to some other DIPAs that I thought were amazing at the time, Alchemy Hour does very well in comparison.

Great Lakes' beers just arrived in Albany this week (hooray!). I got a single of this at Olivers on 4/15/14. "Drink by" date on the bottle is 5/20/14; consumed on 4/17/14.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Body is clear coppery amber with small khaki-colored head. Some splotchy lace.

S: Sweet malt surprisingly dominates at first - think caramel malt & brown sugar. Hops are more noted after a little while: faint apricot and tropical fruits.

T: Follows the nose, with a sweet malt foundation - caramel malt, toffee - then tropiclal fruit (pineapple) hoppiness. Finishes with sweetness doing battle with the hops. Sweetness prevails, which is disappointing to me, as I like my DIPAs to have a strong hop bitterness.

M: Full in body; slighlty slick.

O: This is good, but not great.

Solid.

A - Burgandy - SRM 17. I wouldn't kick her out of bed
S - Sweet with hints of something I like. Malty. Not too hoppy.
T - Not bad. I'm still drinking.
M - Heavy.
O - Good beer. I would drink it every now and then.

This is a strong, drinkable beer. It's a little heavy for me. Not the alcohol content, but the overall beer itself. I would enjoy a little bit more of a hop kick.
