Finally found a place that had singles of this in PA. Picked it up at the Beermuda Triangle in Lower Burrel for 3 bucks.
A - So far so good it has a syrup like consistency, very clear light amber brown body, plus a full inch of sticky white head with lacing throughout.
S - Well it smells as the ABV is well hidden but hops are kind of faint. Some mild resinous pine and citrus/papaya hops highlight with a creamy cracker like malt base. Wish I had more hops in the aroma though.
T - A very mixed taste of alcohol twang, citrus almost minty hops, and some bready gram cracker crust balancing. It does somewhat stick to the palate but seems muddled.
M - Medium to heavy in body. ABV does mask once halfway through the glass.
Overall curious as to why this got such a high rating, I do have strong reason to believe my bottle was well over a month old since the best by date is etched as "4/30/12" but it really shouldn't change my experience this much as other clam this to be a hop bomb with strong resinous tones. Gonna try a ST Unearthly and see if it's my palate...
