Live Review. Poured from the 12 oz. bottle which was one from the 4 pack that I bought from Giant Eagle in Painesville the other day for $9.99. "Please enjoy by 05/20/13" stamped on the label so it is nicely fresh! Poured into a clean, clear Voodoo Brewery pint glass.
A Moderate copper translucent body under a minimal very light brown but thick head. Good look. 4.0
S Floral hops dominate the smell. I may pick up some of the honey malt mentioned on the label but it is well in the background behind the hops! 4.0
T Hops in front but a very welcome last one third of the taste since there is a nice malt, honey sweetness there. The gritty, grainy burlap hops are exceedingly common in Great Lakes beers (notice I am not complaining, only remarking!) but the sweet honey malt is a welcome addition here. Very good taste indeed. 4.5
M Feel is strong for sure. That burlap, grainy hops bitterness really fills out the feel. The sweet honey touch in the last one third lightens the feel somewhat. This is a "big" beer. That not only suits the style but it is what I expected from GLBC. 4.5
D/O Drinkability is not that high with the high ABV and the "bigness" of the beer. Overall this is a very fine beer. 4.5
