Poured from the bottle into a Dogfish Head Ale glass.

A real nice gorgeous copper to bronze beer color, a little opaque just a tad, but a real large billowing off white head three fingers deep and thick. I settles easily to a one finger puck and hangs with lots of slow rising carbonation. Very nice looking.

Hop front but also a real nice balanced mix of sweet malts. Mild earth with a hint of tropical pineapple a bit. Clean smelling and fairly dry. Even a hint of briny character.

A very juicy palate, complimenting the hops but with a bigger density. There is that classic toasty baked bread Great Lakes finish. I get this on almost every beer they brew and love it, classic toasty bread malts, then a mixing pine rush. Mid palate fills with light bodied tropical fruit and a good mix of orange citrus hop bent. Good caramel mixing sweetness on this.

One easy drinking DIPA. I don't care for Erie monster at all (Probably the only GL brew I've had I don't like), but they got this one right.

Sampled the other day at the Apothecary Alehouse in Morgantown.

Not terrible, but very much a "mehhh..." DIPA. At least for me, this beer is a bit too sweet and isn't nearly hoppy enough. Alcohol is more noticeable than I would prefer as well. Can't see myself ordering this one again any time soon.

A - amber with an orangish hue; soft, thin, white head that quickly fades

S - huge citrusy aromas, grapefruit, some sweet sugary notes, a hint of alcohol, faint caramel

T - bread, caramel, faint toast, huge grapefruit notes, piny, big bitter finish, warming alcohol in the finish

M - full bodied, warming alcohol, well carbonated

This is a pretty good DIPA. The alcohol is prevalent but it's not overpowering. It is a bit heavy at times. The malts tend to out shine the hops at first, but the bold hop character takes over as the beer warms. It has a nice, intensely bitter finish. For such a big beer it has good drinkability which is helped by it's balance. In the end, this is good beer that I would definitely have again.

12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Copper colored body. Not much of a head. Some wisps and a thin collar.

Smell - Pine and grapefruit. Some sweet malts. A little booze

Taste - Quite hoppy, mostly of the grapefruit variety. Resiny pine hop too. Lots of sugar. A little bit if bitterness and booze.

Mouthfeel - Too sweet, as is the pitfall of many double IPAs. Medium carbonation. Hot.

Overall - Good hop flavor and it isn't overbearing with the sugars. Just a bit too sweet and too hot.

O - Balanced and not overly hoppy. Sweet bready and orange.

Best before 04/30/13. Poured in to tulip.

A - Golden orange; translucent. Half a finger of cream coloured head.

S - Peach, tangerine, mango and passion fruit hop bouquet. Some sweet honey provides a good balance. The bitterness does not appear to be overly assertive for the style.

T - Well balanced. Moderate bitterness for the style accompanies peach, tangerine, mango, passion fruit, peach and pineapple flavours. A fairly prominent honey malt sweetness.

M - Medium body. Creamy. Sticky hop oils.

O - This was an excellent beer. Would love to try this more fresh but this was great nonetheless. The mosaic hops add a great flavour profile to this.

I was really happy my neighbor found this brew...always like trying the new beers of GL. This beer pours a hazy brilliant orange with slight copper hue. The 1/2 finger thick slightly offwhite head was nice and frothy. The smell reminded me of Ports Wipe Out IPA. There is more floral notes than pine or citrus...Iwould have guessed columbus hops, but bottle says Mosaic. The taste is a very well balanced brew between floral, malt and ABV. The beer is a touch on the sweeter side, which must be from the honey malt used. The mouthfeel is full in body with smooth carbonation. Overall this is a very good beer, but at 9.4% ABV...it would be tough to session.

Best by May 20, 2014. Opened June 29th, 2014.

A- Low head and lace. Rich golden body with apple juice highlights.

S - Ouh, interestingly sweet and fruity nose. Raspberry jam, tangerine, soft herbal bitters, and bread crust.

T - Sweet and fruity, similar to the nose but with a stronger hop bitterness. Raspberry jam, orange marmalade, toasted bread, honey. Herbal cilantro and woody bitters show up in the center and hang around through the finish.

M - Great mouthfeel. Full for the style with a nice bright carbonation.

O - A great fruit forward DIPA: probably the best example I've had yet in that range of the style.
