a: Bright, clear golden color; served with a thick, off-white head.

s: Tropical fruit hopiness; pineapple and zesty citrus. Plenty of sugary caramel and some great as well.

t: Mirrors the smell for the most part. Relatively low bitterness with lots of fresh tasting tropical fruit goodness. A tad sweeter than I prefer with some well incorporated booze.

m: Medium body and creamy.

o: Dangerously drinkable and almost, but not quite, top tier. Really liked this one though.

12 oz. bottle poured into a footed tulip

Pours a deep translucent amber with 2 fingers of off-white head, leaving a thin cap and some lacing. Smells fantastic. Big juicy grapefruit, pineapple, lemon, raw honey, fresh cut grass, and bitter pine.

Quite a bit going on in the flavor. Citrus rind and a variety of sweet tropical fruits make an immediate impression, but faint bready caramel malt lends a helping hand and some impressive balance. Bitter pine resin has the last word. I do find myself wishing that the citrus was as bold as advertised in the nose. Feels light-medium-bodied with smooth crisp carbonation. Could be a little heavier and stickier for my taste.

Overall a very good offering from Great Lakes. Not in the top tier of DIPAs, but rock solid and nothing to complain about. High quality brews like this at a great value make me very glad that I have easy access to everything they make.

Pours a hazy orange amber color. Medium-sized rocky white head. Rich sweet malt aroma with a big pine hop bouquet. Huge bittersweet toasted malt flavor has a complex hop bill. I detect notes of citrus, pine, tropical fruit and chewy, resiny bitterness. The 9.4% alcohol is easily lost in this complex menagerie of malt and hop flavor. Despite the huge flavors here, there is a sense of balance that allows for a wonderful warming and spicy bitter finish. Nice clinging lace stays through to the finish.

2014 bottle into a tulip glass. Bright syrupy amber, with a head of tiny bubbles that dissipate quickly.

The aroma is killing me. Clementine and honey, altered by some umami scent (mixed butter and jam?) Caramel. Yum. Wait, I've got it: it's popcorn!

Intriguing anonymous super-fruit flavor, like a peach/navel orange/banana hybrid. Sweet middle. Bitter finish is straight-up pith of lemon.

Medium-bodied, smooth, sticky, and sweet. Sure, the hops rule, but they're nearly shown up by the sweet, bready malt. Finishes medium-dry.

A masterpiece of balance.
