Bottle pour from recent batch nice fluffy white head solid good lacing and well carbonated. Nose is sweet malt, mango, alcohol and a touch of resin. Taste is vegetal, bready and boozy. The strength of the beer overshadows the hop profile which is a shame. Mouthfeel is great for a DIPA with great bubbly medium-high mouth coating. On the whole I am continuously let down by this one. I had it when it was released under another name and a few bottles of this year's and think the flavor is just a disappointment. I would not grab this on tap even if it was same day fresh.

Best by May 8, 2014; poured into tulip.

A: Pours a nice-looking deep, amber-orange color. Thin off-white head dissipates quickly.

S: Big tropical fruit hop aroma, particularly pineapple, that's fleshed out by resinous and earthy flavors.

T: Huge citrus hop flavors here, lots of grapefruit and tangerine alongside the pineapple that was so strong in the smell. Well balanced with a pleasant lingering bitter tone. Decently strong alcohol flavor, though it works with the hops.

M: Medium-bodied, smooth and very creamy. Really dry finish.

O: Solid DIPA from Great Lakes; well worth picking up.

Drank this our of a tulip
Look - copper color and you can see right through it. Good head that lasted for less than 30 sec
Smell - best smelling dipa I can think of. The hop and citrus aroma is incredible.
Taste - just like the smell but slightly hopier. Has a great grapefruit mango citrus taste. More mango than anything else and it sits in your mouth for a while.
Mouthfell - slight carbonation thick for how clear it is but fairly smooth.
Overall - one of the best Great Lake beers if not my favorite. I hope to find this in tap somewhere!

Pours a semi-opaque hazy copper with a touch of fluff gracing the surface. The aroma is wonderful: juicy fruits, powerful hops, almost a buttery note lurking in the depths. Not a trace of the ABV. Taste follows the nose: bright hops, grapefruit and mango, and a wonderfully sweet yet subtle malt backbone. An excellent brew, and one I'll keep an eye out for in the future.

look: 4.25 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Pours a golden amber with a thick, off-white head that dissipates slowly. Decent lacing. Lots of tropical fruit and citrus on the nose followed by pine resin and flowery notes. Lots of pineapple, grapefruit, mango, tangerine and orange on the tongue. The pine resin and earthy hops are not as apparent, but they balance out what is almost a too sweet beer from the malt profile. Full bodied with good carbonation. Overall, this is almost perfect DIPA, only the too-sweet finish keep it from the pinnacle!

Pours a clear dark orange with minimal/visible carbonation. A small off white head sat atop but quickly dissipated. The aroma is earthiness, pine and resin with some citrus fruit undertones. The earthiness and pine/resin comes through first and the citrus fruit aftertaste lingers for a bit. It is a medium body brew with strong bitterness from the hops. Overall, it is a flavorful DIPA.

A - Powerful copper, essentially transparent, with a light head that starts moderately and fades quickly, but leaves nice lacing.

S - Lovely hop hits of fruits, mostly mango and pineapple, with pine and resin, grass and a slight dank finish that works nicely with the whole.

T - Delivers on the smell with a peppery fruit and hop resin core, with a nice cracker malt element offering some balance, but closing with a hard turn toward the bitter, but not unpleasantly so. This is a double IPA that delivers without smacking you in the face.

M - A bit more chewy than I'd like, but moderate carbonation imparts some relief from the dryness of close.

O - I was quite pleased to pick this up from the Jungle Jim's growler fill service when I was in Ohio yesterday. It was something I hoped to try, and to get it fresh is a particular treat. A wonderful rendition of a popular style, Chillwave is one I'd pick up again in a heartbeat.

A: Pale golden, 1/2 inch head about with lively carbonation.

S: Mango, grapefruit

T: Juicy, citrusy, and some tropical flavors. Some grapefruit and mango as in the nose but also soft kiwi in the mix as well.

M: Medium bodied for an ipa

O: A very nice DIPA and glad I tried it. Burst of hop juice and pretty complex. A comfortable and enjoyable amount of bitterness.

12 oz. bottle poured into a Founders snifter.

Appearance: Pours a hazy amber-hued orange color with a half-inch white head.

Smell: Impressive. Bursting with citrus and tropical hops - tangerine, mango, papaya. No alcohol in the nose. Love it.

Taste: Very similar to the smell - big on the tangerine and tropical fruit hops along with some grapefruit. A tiny bit of caramel malt sneaks in to give some balance on the finish, but this is all about the hops. No real alcohol heat and a nice bittering hop presence on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and pretty dry, although the tropical fruit hop flavors do give a mild perceived sweetness. Medium-high carbonation. Bittering hops dry out the palate on the finish.

Overall: Great Lakes normally kills it and this is one of their best in my opinion. Phenomenal DIPA.

12oz Bottle Poured into Mr. Pint.

Appearance: Copper with a small amount of carbonation. Virtually no head at all.

Smell: Very tropical and hoppy with pine notes. Smells... serious. Like it's not hiding anything at all.

Taste: Big, bold IPA flavors abound here, with a bit more sweetness than what you'd find in your typical double IPA. It's different, and here, different is good!

Mouthfeel: Crisp, clear. No alcohol burn to report. Slight stickiness, strangely enough.

Overall: I'm glad I got a 4 pack of this before the liquor store ran out...!

Crystal clear copper hue with a nice sticky finger and half tall white head. Lots of papaya and mango on the nose along with other tropical fruits, smells great. Incredibly incredibly smooth. Sweet tropical fruits , a bit of pine and grassiness, some sweet caramel and and sweet breads beneath it all, well blended flavors , balanced but overall sweet with bitterness just keeping things in check with a touch of alcohol heat. Really really nice.

Finally found a few 4-packs, and I'm glad I did. Served chilled into an IPA glass.
A: No head, lacing, or retention on this beer. It's a brilliant golden honey color.
S: The aroma is hop forward, with a slight citrus and fruity scent.
T: Sweet, citrusy, and fruity with notes of orange, passion fruit and grapefruit.
M: An effervescent, medium bodied beer that is slightly astringent.
O: One of my new favorite IIPA's, it's like an Imperial Fresh Squeezed IPA from Deschutes. The Mosaic hops and sweet malt profile make this beer extremely drinkable.

look: 4 | smell: 2.75 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.5

A: Pours a clear honey color with a finger of white head that fades into a frothy ring with decent lacing.

S: Bright citrus aromas up front followed by some odd steamed vegetable-like DMS aromas.

T: Thankfully the DMS is less present in the flavor, with bright citrus flavors up front followed by grapefruit and resinous pine. The finish is lightly bitter with a little alcohol warmth, though has a slight DMS aftertaste.

M: Medium body and carbonation, this beer has a lively feel to it, making it drinkable despite its abv.

O: I really enjoyed this beer at first, but as it warmed, the DMS aromas and flavor came out more. It's not bad by any means, but without the DMS it could be great. I'm not for sure where the DMS is coming from since it was poured at a bar that regularly rotates and cleans its taps.

A - Pours a delightful clear amber color with a small white head. Bubbles, bubbles everywhere.

S - Sweet citrus and predominately grapefruit smell. This is combined with moderately a sour smell and hits of hops.

T - A dominating sour citrus taste with a strong grapefruit presence. The IPA bitterness is present, but not overbearing. There is also a very pleasant sweetness to the taste.

M - Very smooth, crisp, and refreshing. The thickness seems medium to light. The alcohol burn is very mild.

O - Probably my favorite IPA, but I do not have much experience with Double IPAs. It is sweet and refreshing and not overly bitter, especially for an IPA. I could see enjoying this beer on a warm spring day, on a beach, or in a tropical location. Although, it is still enjoyable during in this winter that will never end.

pours a slightly hazy light amber with a quarter finger of head that left right away.

Smell is a lot of tropical notes from the mosaic, sweet honey, maybe some honeydew melon, grapefruit, pine, some minor berry notes, caramel malt

taste is bitter up front, heavy tropical notes of mango, papaya, orange, pineapple, some grapefruit and pine kicks in towards the end, a definite sweet malt base here with notes of caramel, honey, bread and biscuit.

Mouthfeel is full and sticky with medium light carbonation, dry an sweet on the finish.

Well this is a damn good beer, I really enjoyed this on, I will probably go through a few 4 packs of this while it is around!

A - Amber orange with good clarity and a thin puff of white head that quickly subsides to a swirly layer that surrounds the glass.

S - Extremely floral, hop zest, tropical fruit, citrus, perfume, resinous.

T - Hop bomb from the very start - citrus and fruity and nicely balanced with a sweet malt backing. Medium to full bodied - this brew warms you as it comes to room temp.

O - Really solid DIPA that is aggressively hopped and yet balanced nicely.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a tulip glass. Best by 05/06/14

A- Pours a deep copper with a high degree of clarity. Has a small very slightly off-white head that dissipated to a thin ring.

S- Getting a lot of stone fruits like a juicy ripe peach, smells a lot like another recent beer I had Hi-Res. Tropical notes of passion fruit and some of that honey malt coming through. The alcohol is coming through slightly but pretty well masked, Mosaic is fragrant enough to overpower the alcohol.

T- Similar to aroma, passion fruit, peach, apricot, slight floral notes, nice smooth bitterness. Lovely sweet malts, papaya. Alcohol is hidden well, better than in the aroma.

M- Nice on the heavier side of medium for a dipa which is right where I like it.

O- I'm really impressed by this beer. After having a few of the recent popular Mosaic beers and not really liking the sort of medicinal aspect of this hop I was surprised to not get any of that in this beer, just the wide variety of fruits that I like out of Mosaic. Only got one bottle of this to test the waters and will definitely be going back for a full 4-pack.

Poured 12oz bottle drink by 5/18/14 into New Belgium globe

A-Pours a bright, clear, orange color, with small off-white head and some strong lace.

S-The aroma is clean and hoppy, fresh mango, pine/resin, and some grapefruit.

T-The flavor is clean hops, medium sweet and medium bitter, balanced and flavorful

M-The mouthfeel is medium, it has nice carbonation, and a clean, mid-dry finish

O-This is a really nice DIPA. It has fresh and clean flavors, and a well-balanced taste overall. It isn’t the most bitter example of the style out there, but just a really tasty and nicely made example. Really enjoyed this way to go Founders I need to find some more.

Pours a golden amber orange with a thin layer of off-white and bubbly foam.

Juicy tropical fruit, namely mango, pineapple, and some citrus, resin, and some earthy pine notes.

The tropical sweetness in the aroma is slightly overpowered by the resinous, piney, and earthy hop bitterness, but the tropical flavors are not overshadowed, pineapple and mango come out to play with some slight caramel notes.

Medium-bodied, medium carbonation, slightly chewy, tropical tartness, and a fair amount of resinous hop bitterness.

Overall, this will sit in my top 10 favorite DIPAs for some time. This leans heavy on the bitter spectrum, but the tropical tart and sweet flavors shine just enough.

12oz. bottle poured into a snifter

A- A gorgeous, perfectly clear amber-orange. A thing off-white head dissipates quickly.

S- HUGE tropical notes. Tangerine, apricots, mango, passionfruit, pineapple abound. Aroma just jumps from the glass.

T- Sweet hops. Follows the nose, but there's a bit more grapefruit than there is on the nose. A little bit of everything from the realm of hops, mainly tropical, some grapefruit, a hint of earthy notes and pine.

M- A nice medium body, which dries just a bit on the finish.

O- Like Heady Topper and don't have access to it? This will at least scratch the itch for Heady a bit.

Appearance: pours a brilliant orange color with a 1" head that lasts a long time before receding. Spotty lace develops.

Smell: fruity, floral, and earthy tones are all detectable by the nose.

Taste: caramel, orange, grapefruit, big earthy bitterness, and some tropical fruit sweetness. Alcohol is slightly noticeable.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp throughout with some dryness arriving late. Long lasting aftertaste,

Overall: a well balanced DIPA that is nicely refreshing and enjoyable. One of my favorites from GLB.

Pours a brilliant copper color with a half finger of head that dissipates quickly but leaves some lacing behind. The nose is a fine blend of hops and citrus. The malt backbone on this offering is solid – in fact, this is quite a well-balanced DIPA. The finish has bitterness along with a hint of sweet, but it’s not super-hoppy. The biggest drawback is that the alcohol gets just a bit too much at the very end.

On tap:
Orange/amber beer, fairly clear, spotty head.
Nose orange candy (El Dorado-ish), minty greenness.

Nice mandarin orange sweetness, then rind, then grapefruit, all with a caramel sweetness behind it. In the end, pine/mint flavors take over, leaving a very green-leaf dryness on tongue.

Enjoyed more on re-review than initial thought of it being an under 4 beer (but maybe not 3.75 low). Warmth helps a tad, but not too warm on this one.
