An orange amber beauty poured into a Solemn Oath tulip

A wave of citrus washes thru with lightly fruity yeast note and fruity hop is very intense.

Sweet malt like sugar cookie then fruit and intense, but smooth bitterness. The taste is amazing.

The carbonation is spot on with a slick mouth-coating hop flavor sensation.

Overall this is the best DIPA I have tried in some time. I imagine this is the Midwest's version of Heady Topper. Seek it out!!!

Poured from a bottle into a snifter.

A: a medium amber orange color with a one finger off white head. Tiny spot glass lacing remains.

S: Wow, smells like fruit cocktail with alcohol! Pineapple and lots of it, grapefruit, candied citrus and sweet caramel malt. Such a distinctive smell.

T: Much as the same as the nose, only a bit of a letdown compared to the smell. Huge candied fruit with lots of pineapple, grapefruit, mango and tangerine. Sweetness comes rushing in with caramel, candy sugar and lots of alcohol. Finish stays sweet, no bitterness at all.

M: Sweet, lasting, alcohol, almost cloying but not quite

O: A really good beer, but as with Lake Erie, it's really sweet. If sweet DIPAs are your bag, this one is for you because the fruit is amazing....maybe the most distinctive tropical fruit I have ever smelled on a beer.

Overall a really good beer where the taste can't quite live up to the smell. Fantastic, fantastic smell, maybe top 5, but the flavor does not quite live up to the smell. Still, try it if you can, it's good.

Poured from a bottle into a schooner glass.

Appearance - Golden amber color. Off-white head that dissipates quickly. Nice clarity.

Smell - Interesting aroma of passion fruit and mangos. Some malt sweetness follows which helps balance out the fruity aroma hops. A little bit of alcohol.

Taste - Same fruity hoppiness carries over from the aroma. Malt sweetness follows the dominate hops, but the bitterness keeps the balance on the hop side. The alcohol is well hidden, but slightly noticble on the aftertaste. Finishes dry, but not as dry as lot of other DIPA's.

Mouthfeel - The carbonation starts off strong, but dissipates fairly quickly. Medium body. A little bit of alcohol warmth.

Overall - Chillwave is a very nice variation to a "traditional" double IPA. The mango-like hops make for a very drinkable 9%er. The only flaw I can think of is the lack of lingering carbonation, which would only add to the complexity of this beer. I would definitely drink this again.

A- Dark hazy bronze color. 1/2 inch of creamy white head.

S- This is where this beer really stands out to me. An explosion of fruity hoppiness. Detect some faint malt, but the fruity hops dominate.

T- Taste like a bitter fruit smoothy. Juicy hops up front. Pineapple, tangerine, mangos. So good. There is a light malt presence but the hops take front stage here. Alcohol comes through slightly in the after taste. There is also a pleasant bitterness that lingers between drinks.

M- Medium mouthfeel. The hops tingle the roof of the mouth.

O- This is one awesome DIPA. My goodness its so easy to drink even with the slight alcohol coming through in the finish. Enjoying this one after work. Going straight to the dome. Could definitely drink another, but then I may not wake up for class.

**I'm still kind of new to IPAs and craft beer in general. I'm finally starting to taste the difference between different IPAs. This one and dirt wolf are both awesome. Just picked up a bomber of the collab black double IPA by 3 Floyds, Surly, and Real ale brewing. Going to share with a friend and review soon.**
