On tap at Stouts Pub in St. Paul, MN. Served in a 10 oz. Fulton chalice glass.
Appearance: Color is a dark midnight black with a moderate amount of bubbles. About one finger of light tan head which fades into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a good amount of lace.
Smell: A rich dark malty aroma with lots of chocolate and coffee in the aroma. Dark roasted malts with big hints of dark chocolate, coffee bean, burnt caramel, toffee, biscuit, and lager yeast. Noticeable hints of sweet molasses sugar and some hints of anise licorice. Some hints of smoked malt are also noticeable but not as strong as typical of a Baltic Porter. Light hints of grassy hops in the background. A rich stout like aroma.
Taste: Like the aroma hints, a big rich taste of dark malts with lots of chocolate, coffee, and molasses notes. Dark roasted malts with a taste of dark cocoa, coffee bean, toast, burnt caramel, toffee, and biscuit. Noticeable taste of the Great Lakes lager yeast. Notes of sweet molasses and anise licorice spice. Also some smoked malt. Some grassy hops come through towards the finish. A very solid taste that has the richness of an imperial stout.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very creamy and rich. Somewhat slick. Alcohol is hidden well.
Overall: A very good brew. Good rich roasty taste with an interesting addition from the lager yeast.

Enjoying this on-tap at the GLBC. Served in a pint glass, this beer draws a dark brown almost black color with a tan/brown head about 1-2 to 2/3 of an inch thick when first poured. Settles to a nice thick ring lining the inside of the glass. Aromas of dark roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate along with hints of caramel and coffee. Taste is the same with roasted caramel and toffee malt sweetness, roasted coffee bitterness, and hints of chocolate that is rounded out with a touch of hops. Has a crisp, yet smooth and creamy, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a dry and bitter aftertaste. A damn good porter here.
