Poured from the bottle featuring Moses Cleaveland, the city's founding father, with a freshness date of 2/15/07. The color is a hazy, pale straw color. The is exceptionally creamy, stiff, and voluminous, forming a cap rising above the rim of the pint. It shows great retention, leaves plenty of fluffy lace.
The aroma is dry and floral, some rose and violets, corriander and spiced yeast. The flavor is reminiscent of traditional witbiers, with plenty of corriander and some pepper, lemon and orange peel, complex strains of grain, yeast, and a subtle flash of hops.
The mouth is light yet complex, very vibrant on the palate and carbonated. The dry, slightly bitter finish, following the spice and citrus, keeps dancing on the palate for a considerable time.
Drinkable? hell yeah, and this is by no means my favorite style. And it is flavorable and weighty enough to make you want to keep drinking it. As strong as any witbier you likely to pour into your head. Another great one from GLBC--I think I end all my reviews of their brews this way, but by Zeus' beard, it's true.
