I went here to watch Monday Night Football in December '07 while on business in the Cleveland area.

The entrance into the bar area is softly lit, giving off a warm comfortable atmosphere right away. I sat in the bar area; not that big, a few TVs, lots of polished red wood (cherry?). Peeking into the restaurant area, I get a glimpse of some stately-looking high back black leather booths, very classy.

I wasn't sure what to expect on a Monday Night Football night, but the place wasn't busy as they don't pander to that. A basic meal of fish & chips hits the spot, washed down with a Rock's Rye.

I order the sgnature dessert, bread pudding, and an Edmund Fitz to go with. In the meantime, I stroll down the stairwell to check the rest of the place out. Halfway down the steps is a door to the bier garden. Feels toasty and looks awfully cozy with a roaring fire in the stone hearthed fireplace. 'See a hostess about sitting in here' so says the sign on the door.

I venture to the bottom of the steps to find a little bar area with lots of concrete, wrought iron and wood. Makes me feel like I'm in a private little basement, I'd be right at home in here! Restrooms are down here, too.

Back to my table, the place in getting a bit full now, not for the game though. The bread pudding and porter arrive, along with a shot of the Rackhouse Ale. The server and I spoke about it briefly and she wanted me to taste it. The bread pudding is phenomenal by itself and with either brew. Whew, time for a water and then a serving of the Rackhouse, I can't resist. Mmmm...

My neighbor back in Cincy loves a good bourbon, I think he'll dig this. I get a growler of it to go. With the fancy growler and tip, it's close to 50 bucks. Money well spent. The neighbor and I drank over half of it the following week, its the best 'weird beer' I ever had him try, so he says.

An outstanding experience, I hope I get the chance to visit again.

Don't let the bad artwork on the bottles fool you. GLBC is a fantastic brewery and restaurant.

Went on 5/16 as part of a brewery trip given to me my my wonderful wife!
Could have stayed here all day. Food was good, beer was better! Chill wave on tap there was so fresh I thought I was in heaven! Planning on going back in the fall. The tour was ok too. Nice gift shop and friendly staff. Can't wait to go again!

This place has old school Cleveland written all over it. A 2 story pub with multiple bars and lots of seating. The walls are graced with beer memorabilia from the past as well as GLBC itself. A huge wall of spent bourbon barrels cut in halves for decoration give a great look up stairs. The food is exceptional with every thing being made in house. Whether it be the Edmund Fitzgerald sauce, or Ohio grown beef it was just great. I had their signature bread pudding for dessert and it was out of this world. The beer selection is mainly their 5 year rounds, 2 seasonals, and 4 pub only beers which unfortunately they were sold out of 2 of the 4 pub exclusives. I did get to try the Abbey Ave dubbel which I downed about 3. I sampled the bird dog and had an Edmund Fitzgerald with my meal. The staff were friendly and fairly knowledgeable about their ales and lagers. The fantastic brewery gives free tours all day long, and it's stationed directly across the street. The gift store sits directly inside the pub with shirts, hats, glassware, etc, and 4 coolers of glbc bottled beer to take home. This would be an awesome daily stop on your way home from a long day of work if you lived in down town cleveland. Terrific brewery and just an great place to take your family.

Really cool old-style pub feel to the place. Great beer but limited to just Great Lakes stuff- which is fine. 3 taps were exclusive to the place and a 4th was a limited release seasonal. The food was friggin sweet.

Went here on a "cabin fever" Saturday in March when the weather had broke and everyone was out and about in the Ohio City section of Cleveland. The restaurant was too crowded to eat. We by-passed the main bar area and found the grotto bar downstairs. We were able to get a seat while ordering our second beer. This section of Cleveland is a great place to spend a couple of hours, especially the days the Westside Market is open. Along with the Great Lakes pub there are many other interesting joints around.

I carry the whole line of Great Lakes at my store Angelbecks in Montclair NJ. The beer is awesome across the board.

This is one of the big spots both for locals and tourists interested in beer, and rightly so. Located in the 25th street near West Side area, it's somewhat safe, and there is always plenty on tap. I never thought much of the food, but I really want beer at a great brewery, so it's acceptable.

Haven't toured the brewery, but the gift shop & restaurant are great. Always busy, but go see the hostess first. You give them your number, go shop the store & they TXT you when your table is ready. You can fill growler or buy 6 packs to go. They usually have a couple beers on tap that you can only get at the brewery. A must stop for beer lovers!

This is a mandatory stop for me any time I am anywhere near Cleveland. Not only do they always have a fantastic lineup on tap, but the food is just as good (they have a lamb shepherd's pie made with their Edmund Fitzgerald porter - mother of god!!!), and the brewery itself is a fun tour!

Great service and great beers. And the bar has lots of atmosphere. You can spend a lot of time here relaxing. For an all around place, this is my favorite in Cleveland.

This place is a lot of fun- Great Lakes' beers are always good, sometimes great and the food is really tasty. If you go in the summer, sitting outside is a must.

Beer I would recommend- Dortmunder, Oktoberfest when it's out, blackout stout when it's out, Edmund Fitzgerald, burning river. Hopheads, this is not really your kind of place but go ahead and try Lake Erie monster or nosferatu when in season or branch out and try some of their awesome German style beers.

In terms of food- the old world burger, chicken sandwich on a pretzel roll, or pretzel encrusted chicken with garlic mashes potatoes and pale ale mustard. Seriously the stuff with pretzels is awesome.

Service is fine- never have had bad service and have had good service most of the time. Could be more attentive but hey it's a brewpub. Definitely a place to check out if you're in Cleveland.

This rating is mainly due to the great beers they make. All of them are very good and a couple are really excellent. The food was only ok i thought. The service was a little shy of ok. Not really bad but definitely not good. This would be higher if the food and service at this place were nearly as good as the beer.

Great place for lunch and to come and see one of the better brewers in Cleveland. Food was very good and decent portions. Beer selection is obviously Great Lakes and they had a very good selection available. Service was very quick and attentive. Good area, but limited parking.

I have been to Great Lakes Brewing Co. for dinner and solely for dinner and neither disappoint. The bar is small and neighborhood like which is a plus. They also have tons of fresh Great Lakes beers on tap. The bartenders have always been very good and offer their opinion when you ask it. If not, they just pour what you ask for. On the food side, I took my FIL here for dinner along with my 2 y.o. son and we had a good meal in the restaurant part away from the bar. Can't go wrong whether dining, drinking or both. Highly recommend.

My wife took me here for my birthday on January 27th, 2014 in what amounts to my first visit to a craft brewery,

The brewpub itself is quaint and cozy. Our server was very knowledgeable on not just GLBC's beers but in beer in general. He was quite friendly and we hit it off like two old friends discussing beer.

I ordered a Brewhouse Burger on a pretzel bun with fries. The burger was ok, nothing remarkable and my wife dinner (Pretzel Chicken) she liked but nothing outstanding.

But let's face it, I didn't come here to eat, I wanted to sample some beers not available in stores.

I had a Barrel-Aged Blackout Stout which was outstanding. I gave it a rating of 5 out of 5.

Also had Ohio City Farmhouse Saison which was good. And the third on I don't remember the name but was also a solid beer (I've never had a bad GLBC beer and I've had about 17 different varieties.

Overall a great place to try some new brews and munch on some food while at it.

Great City, friendly people, excellent beer, good food. What's not to like? The main bar is conducive to a quality drinking experience and the downstairs cellar is inviting. The outdoor patio on the street level is tree-lined & reminiscent of a European City. Go.

I have been to the brewpub at least a dozen times. The beers are absolutely world class, and they usually have something special avalable. The atmosphere is a nice mix of old style bar, lots of wood, and some brewing equipment to add to the ambience.

The food has always been good, especially their pretzel appetizer with dips...phenomenal! Pretty much all you need to have with your beers.

The service has always been lackluster. Many times they are out of certain items, and the servers seem unapologetic and not very eager to offer suggestions. The service is not bad, but I expect good service when spending this kind of money. The place is by no means expensive, but it sure is not cheap.

Overall, this is a must visit for any beer fan that has the opportunity. The gift shop is a nice touch as well, and they usually have great deals on beer and glassware.

GLBC! So happy that I live near this place. I love their beers and the pub exclusives are always top-notch. They put out some experimental beers in their pub; there are generally 2-3 available at all times. They host some cool events throughout the year - movie nights, beer releases, beer school, etc. Service is good, food is above-average.
