I recently made my third visit to Great Lakes. The building has all kinds of history associated with it. As you enter, you are met with a dining area to the left with the gift shop beyond that. The upstairs bars and dining area are ahead of you. I have never dined nor drank upstairs. It is very clean and well lit. I had gone to the basement bar each time.

The basement is more dimly lit. The walls are cobblestone and it is a relatively small area. The bar was full on this occasion, so my date and I grabbed a small booth.

The server did not make us wait long before she attended to us. I was immediately disappointed when I found out that they ran out of Alberta Clipper earlier that day. They were also out of Rackhouse Ale and Tripel Dog Dare. I settled for a Abbey Ave. Dubbel. As with all Great Lakes selections, it was perfect for the style.

The menu isn't extensive but they have pizza and some nice comfort dishes. I settled on a open faced pot roast sandwich which was good but not great. My date chose the chicken pot pie and raved at how good it was.

Ovreall, I have had favorable experiences here. My only disappointment is that on the last two occasions there have been one selection of beer on tap that I cannot purchase in bottles. Don't get me wrong, I love Great Lakes beers. I just want to try some other offerings. I have either had poor timing or the beers are so good that the demand exceeds the supply. (1,433 characters)

Vibe:My folks and I were in town for the night as we were on our way to the Football HOF induction ceremony. The place was packed on a Friday afternoon. Outdoor patio seating looked cool. Up stairs and downstairs bars looked a bit cramped. We ended up at a table downstairs as it was the only room really available. The people seemed pretty cool and there were a few other out-of-towners.

Quality: The beers were really nice. Only had a couple duds that fell flat to me. We were lucky that they still had some of the Christmas Ale left over from the Christmas in July thingy they did. The Oktoberfest, Lake Erie Monster, and the Clevelander Weisse really stood out to me, with the last two really making a strong case for my favorites.

Service: was prompt and friendly. Pretty dang extraordinary for how packed it was in there.

Selection: I was pretty psyched for all 11 different beers they had on tap. They had a beer for everybody. Some safe picks like the Dortmunder and Eliot Ness Amber and some more challenging beers like the Clevelander Weisse and the Moondog ESB.

Food was pretty kick ass. Had a perfectly cooked burger and the grilled cheese is to die for. Though, my father is doing this whole pseudo-vegetarian thing to keep his gout at bay and the beet salad didn't do it for him.

I really enjoyed myself here and love that you can get a 5 oz sampler of all 11 beers for like $16. If I hadn't just gone from a mile up in elevation to about 650 above sea level I might have gotten a little drunk even. I will definitely return next time I am in Cleveland. (1,572 characters)

Absolutely wonderful brewpub. Quick service, amazing building, cool gift shop. My only complaint is the lack of unique in house beers. The only pub exclusive beer they had on tap was the Ales for ALS brew. Great experience other than that. (239 characters)

I ate here with my family when we stopped overnight in Cleveland while on a road trip. The restaurant is located on a picturesque little street, with a public pay parking lot adjacent to the brewery. Both indoor and outdoor seating, the ambiance is eclectic, with a well worn and dark interior and an outdoor area that is modern and interesting. The food is excellent, local, and creative. The beer is well made, fresh, and from a decent selection. Great service and a nice crowd. Worth a visit. (501 characters)

Don't let the bad artwork on the bottles fool you. GLBC is a fantastic brewery and restaurant. (94 characters)

Went on 5/16 as part of a brewery trip given to me my my wonderful wife!
Could have stayed here all day. Food was good, beer was better! Chill wave on tap there was so fresh I thought I was in heaven! Planning on going back in the fall. The tour was ok too. Nice gift shop and friendly staff. Can't wait to go again! (316 characters)
