I tasted the 5% version. Light yellow color. Made some head that dissipated quickly.
Very faint aroma of herbal hops. In its taste, predominance of malt and grassy hops that leaves a somewhat lingering bitterness. Good carbonation. Aftertaste a litle dry. Good alternative to adjunct lagers , given its price.

A: Pale golden pour with a lot of small bubbles. The large soapy white head dissipates quickly into poor lacings.

S: Grainy malt, not too exciting. Bitter hops in the back. Kind of bready.

T: Creamy smooth malt with bitter hops. Actually this is better than the smellm, not great but better. Bready.

M: Long creamy bitter aftertaste, pretty nice. Body is smooth medium and carbonation is rich.

O: Well, you'll get what you pay for, and this one came cheap.

Courtesy of my flatmate's sister, this bottle is hand-carried from Greifswald, NE Germany. Coming in a slim 500ml brown bottle, BB 05/12/07, served chilled in a pint glass.

A: dark yellowish straw; a thick, spongy white crown sustains pretty well, on top of very lively, almost fierce, carbonation.
S: a light grainy nose sits on a par with lightly fragrant floral hops, supported by a light tinge of lager sourness. Quite understated, but not unpleasant in any way to me.
T&M: the taste falls way behind the already muted nose... spritzy, slightly powdery malts and hoppiness wander aimlessly, while more matellic grainy+corn-ish touches refuse to budge... overall it's pretty thin on the palate with moderate fizziness, but the unpleasant "plastic" edges of macro lager and very thin sourness scupper the chance of any remnant, enjoyable elements to come through.
D: a thin-bodied lager with slightly more presence of hops than malts. This is the second German pilsnener in a row tonight, and unavoidably it has to be judged against the previous, better one.

Sometimes you can buy cheap Gerrman, Czech or Danish low alcohol beer in Swedish supermarkets. They seem to appear and fly by night, probably brewed in occasional batches by the brewer for the Swedish market. I got a bottle of 3,5% Darguner Pilsener at the budget supermarket Netto. Darguner Brewery is situated in Dargun, near Rostock in the far north of old East Germany. The color was pale golden and it poured with a swarm of ascending bubbles. The foam disappeared quickly, though. The beer smelled of bread and sour dish rags. The taste was bland and watery with some bitterness and bread although everything seemed to vanish in two seconds. All and all Darguner Pilsener ranks on an average level among the low alcohol pilseners marketed in Sweden.
