Can into chalice

A- pours clear orange with a two finger frothy head
S- plenty of belgian yeast, some bananna, some pumpkin,
T- starts like a refreshing tripel, some grassy notes, some citrus, has. Plenty of spices, some clove, and finishes with a nice earth pumpkin subtlety.
M- thin enough to enjoy
O- very nice take on a pumpkin beer, great combo, very creative. The pumpkin flavor isn't too obvious but it's there. I must say I liked the porter better but this is solid

This beer takes some time to settle, lots of roiling activity continuing well after the pour is finished. It finally settles a clear gold-orange with what appear to be some yeasty floaties swimming around. The head is creamy and tight, just slightly tinted, and drops slowly to a solid foam. Lacing consists mostly of patching mixed with spotting.
With the spicing, some sweet and mostly the less sweet kitchen variety, and the pumpkin flesh, it does bear a resemblance to pumpkin pie. Some of the spicing and the earthier tones may be the Belgian yeast and, while there's a subtle sweetness, there's not as much as the style can give. That's not a bad thing, and it works for this beer. Lots of peppery spiciness and floral hops lend complexity to its overall character.
There's a bit more fruitiness in the middle of this beer, and the alcohol's a bit hotter. It's still mildly sweet and very spicy, lots of pepper biting, earthy and, with the leafy hops, leaning much dryer into the finish. It gets quite a bit sweeter as it goes, downright juicy at one point. Pumpkin flesh works pretty well in the midst of it all, though not as well as the nose altogether.
The medium body offers a nice, creamy smoothness off a light crispness. The overall effect is clean, even as it dries out into the finish.

12oz : tulip

Hazy, golden yellow with a foamy, white head.

Clove phenols and lightly fruity esters from the Belgian yeast primarily, with lightly sweet and malty pumpkin and Belgian candi sugar notes.

Medium body, foamy carbonation. Slightly dry finish.

A well done Tripel with the pumpkin playing a light, pleasant role.

Pour: A bright and clear golden yellow, with a delicate head that leaves no lacing.

Aroma: The pumpkin in this one doesn’t overpower the aroma. I get all those good tripel smells. There’s Belgian yeast funk with banana, clove, and citrus all over the place. The pumpkin sort of sneaks in at the end.

Taste: Caramel sweetness, with some alcohol warming, and that Belgian yeast up front. The pumpkin makes itself apparent as well, with cinnamon and clove spiciness backing it up. There is a slight bitter twinge that hits me rather well, and a nice dry finish.

Overall: I like this one better than the porter. The pumpkin and spice seem to add quite a bit more to the beer, and it balances out nicely. I never would have thought to make a pumpkin tripel.

Received as an extra in a trade and poured in to my Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a nice cloudy golden hue with suspended particulates throughout. There was a one finger head that faded almost immediately to leave light wisps and a thin halo.

S - Aromas of caramel, esters, clove, wheat, faint pumpkin, candy sugar, light bread.

T - Taste is interesting, a pumpkin ale crossed with a tripel. Light pumpkin, ginger, belgian yeasts, candi sugars, clove, light spice notes. Pleasant.

M - Mouthfeel is a bit on the sharper side, higher carbonation. Not much alcohol.

O - Overall, this was an interesting combination. With there was a bit more pumpkin in this one but overall, quite tasty.
