A: [4.00] Slightly clouded golden color. The pour formed a 2 finger white head. The can lists ABV (7%) BU (70) and drink by (12/13/14)

S: [3.50] Initial aroma I got was grapefruit then grassy/piney smell.

T: [2.25] Not what I expected. Nothing like the nose. The flavor is there but I am not sure that I like it. Seems like a mild bitter taste with no malty sweetness and no citrus (like in the nose).

M: [2.50] Decent carbonation but the mouthfeel is a little dry due to the bitter front to back on the palate.

O: [2.50] The taste is almost artificial tasting. It is hard to describe - like a mild solvent maybe. I guess that is harsh - but the beer is not one I'd grab for again. (694 characters)

Best part of this beer is appearance with lots of a long lasting foamy head and lace plus a clear amber color. Aroma is nice with a resiny, somewhat citrus character. However, in flavor the trend reverses; i get a long lasting resiny kind of medicinal taste. I don't get balance between the flavor and that shows up in palate as well. Overall the finish leaves me with some flavors that I want to wash my mouth out with something else. (435 characters)

I enjoy a good bouquet, but here it's lacking which is strange because there is good flavor. Nevertheless, the taste on this beer is very good in my estimation. Nice hop bounce. I like this very much in a can as well, likely more so. Don't pass this up, give it a try for sure. (277 characters)

Can from Lazy Dog in Warner Robins with a best by 2/14/15 date, so no clue when it was canned. Poured on 12/1/14. Pours hazy golden orange with a huge fluffy white head. Sweet malty aroma, orange peel, lightly floral hop notes, smells like it may be on the older side but still pleasant. Flavor is a big malty mess, some vague hay notes, and a dirty finish. Heavier syrupy body with low plus carbonation. Just going to assume this is on the older side. Will have to try again fresh some time. (492 characters)

I was surprised by the grapefruit hop notes were so present in this beer. It had been a few years since I had one and I am happy to say it will not be so long before the next! (175 characters)

Crystal clear apricot orangey yellow with an eggshell colored head that settles out slowly. Aroma of citrus and pine, some floral and minty hops.

Flavor is similar to the nose, lots of citrus and piney hops, moderate bitterness, but well balanced with a honey malt backbone. Semi slick mouthfeel, finishes tingly. Good beer. (325 characters)

12 oz. can poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

A- Golden orange. with a faint haze. Head is just off white. With some great sticky lacing. Head holds at half an inch.

S- Fairly mild nose. Toasted malt background, with an earthy, floral and faint citrus hop character.

T- Well balanced toast and some sweeter citrus. Just a faint bitterness. Pretty sweet.

M- Very smooth and wet finish. Body is medium light. Just faintly bitter. Goes down so easy.

O- Solid. Doesn't stand out too much in the IPA crowd, but it doesn't slouch. Drinkable and a decent flavor. (562 characters)

Pours slightly hazy and golden amber in color with a solid finger of frothy off-white foam.

Grapefruit, guava, orange zest, piney/grassy hops, and a subtle toasted malt note. Nice, but not mind-blowing.

The overall taste and flavor of this beer is where is starts to fall off. While the aroma was subtle, it was only slightly above average and the flavor is definitely only average. The toasted malt comes out to play a bit more and the tropical and citrusy flavors fade, but the grassiness remains. Just average. Good, but not great.

Light-medium bodied, medium-high carbonation, soft, subtle, some prickly carbonation.

Overall, I was slightly impressed with this beer, but I definitely feel it could use some tweaks to the recipe to really make it stand out over the plethora of other IPAs out there to purchase instead. (826 characters)

12oz can poured into pint glass, enjoy by 3/15

A- pours a slightly hazy pale golden color with a small creamy and foamy white head that reduces to a layer of film floating on top, no lacing

S- caramel biscuit malt with some piney, grassy and floral hop aromas

T- floral and grassy hop flavors up front with a hint of citrus, sweet caramel and bready malt backbone closes it out with a sweet linger

M- medium body with medium carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues into the finish

O- pretty balanced for an Ripa, easy drinking and hides the alcohol well (575 characters)

Can into pint glass at Rocklands. Pours hazy gold with a good head and strong lacing. Aromas are grapefruit peel, floral, and biscuit. Flavors are typical west coast ipa hoppiness, caramel malts, medium pine bitterness. Crisp carbonation with medium body. (255 characters)

Pours a murky orange-straw color with a decent sized white, foamy head that recedes quickly. Leaves a surprising amount of lacing.

Aroma is bursting with citrus, led by grapefruit, oranges, and a bit of lemon zest. Hints of peach. Sweet. A little bit of yeast.

Taste has more malt than there was in the aroma. Bready malts. Citrus is still there. Mostly orange. Some floral and grassy hops. Pine. Nothing too out there in the taste.

Mouthfeel is medium-light. Pretty easy to drink. Well carbonated.

Overall: First brew from 21st Amendment. Nothing special here. Solid beer, but nothing to write home about. (612 characters)

Rating based on 1/2 can: Had tonight in a nice restaurant. The waiter poured 1/2 can which I drank. Good beer I thought but a little less crisp than maybe it should be. I poured the rest and found the "enjoy by" date as 01/20/15. Mentioned to waiter who quickly apologized and offered another but all from case had same date. I'll try again. My wife (not a beer drinker) commented on the nice yellow gold color. (411 characters)

Clear amber color with a thick head with medium retention and leaving some laces.
Aroma of malt sweetness slightly toasted, passion fruit juice and piñacolada.
Flavor of sweet malt, grapefruit citrusy, peaches, honey, some pine and orange-lime. Dry and bitter aftertaste. Its 70 IBUs are there, but sure partially tamed by its malt.
Bordering full body with appropriate carbonation.
Well, they deliver what they promised: a solid malt backbone and decent level of hops. So, in theory rather balanced, still I usually prefer my IPAs less malty. (544 characters)

Agressive pour into my trusty ol Samual Smith IPA glass.Pours a big frothy head.Did not have to wait too long to wait for said head to go away.Smells like a typical west coast IPA.First sip I thought this was a Sculpin it is that close.Bitter to the core.Maybe a little too bitter. All in all a decent IPA and I would most likely buy again but I like to try new things and it would not be my first choice.Still a well done IPA. (426 characters)

On tap, poured into a sampler. The aroma is a bright, sweet tropical character (namely passionfruit), with a bright, grassy and pine undertone. The beer is oily and sparkling clear with an amber hue and an abundant, dense white head that retain and lace moderately well. The taste is a medium high bittersweet, balanced. The texture is oily and creamy, with some fuzz for carbonation. The medium body is composed of pine, tropical fruit, and bread on the palate with a crisp finish of pine, bread crust, and bitter citrus peel. It leaves an aftertaste that's dry and astringent with flavors of bread and pine. (609 characters)

A: The beer is slightly hazy golden yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger and a half high white head that has good retention properties and consistently left a large patch of bubbles on the surface, a thick collar around the edge, a thin head in between, and lots of lacing coating the edges of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy, earthy, floral, and spicy hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste has a moderate amount of bitterness and strong notes of earthy hops. The bitterness lingers through the finish. Slight hints of underlying malts are also perceptible.
M: It feels a little crisp on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation; the finish is a little clean.
O: This IPA is rather bitter and has a lot of different aromas and flavors from the hops.

Love the brewer, love the can. This one is not my favorite most because it's that English, bitey style

A: Like all 21st Amendment - a good looker. Cloudy apricot, light head, fast fade, light lace.
S: Best smelling English IPA. Citric, barrel, salt hay, salt, bilge (long trip around the horn).
T: Follows the citric, dirty smell. Easy drinking more hops than malt. Good pub food beer (pizza, burgers)
MF: Above average but no special appeal or body.

All in all, a reliable IPA in a can. Better than Brooklyn, about even with Sierra Nevada Pale. (549 characters)

Ratings are correct below, but I changed some marks above to make the final rating as close as possible with Beer Advocate's "revamped" system. The 3.82 overall rating is accurate.

Type: 12-oz. can
Glass: Firestone pint glass
From: Barons Market in Alpine, Calif.
Price: $1.67
Purchased: June 5, 2015
Consumed: June 5, 2015
Misc.: Enjoy by Aug. 19, 2015

Poured a golden, pale, clear color with 7-to-8 fingers of khaki, white, frothy head. Lots of bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Tons of foamy spotty lacing on the sides of the glass. Very thick retention. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled Cascade, earthy rye, iced tea, caramel, light floral, grassy, Citra rind and light honey. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted pretty close to the nose, maybe slightly better. More bitter for sure. Got Cascade, earthy rye, caramel, iced tea, light grapefruit rind, Citra, honey and grassy notes. Doesn’t taste 7 percent. (Taste - 3.88)

Light body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.88)

Unfortunately this was a bit warm when I reviewed it. Luckily I’ll have another five to confirm. Liked it though. (Overall - 3.75)

A - Golden orange with a 2 finger white head that slowly fades. Nice collar and thin webbed lacing.

S - Hop aromas of citrus, grass and tropical fruit. The malts are caramel and honey, but on the lighter side.

T - Starts off semi sweet and finishes with a bitterness. Hop notes of citrus, grapefruit, and pine. Malts are lighter with notes of caramel.

M - Medium body, moderate carbonation that finishes dry.

O - Another decent canned IPA. (494 characters)

Poured a cloudy orange body with two finger head which left minor lace. A sharp citric hop aroma that is dirty hit me at first and then some minimal malts in the aroma as well. Beer is really smooth and easy to drink, light to medium bodied, the citric hops are prevalent and sharp but they are no overpowering. At times I found a little almost grapelike taste from the hops that gave some sweetness and there is some minor maltiness to this beer for balance. Not too flavorful or complex but not a bad beer. (508 characters)
