Down to Earth is the natural evolution (pun intended) of Bitter American, our original session ale. We thought it would be fitting to bring our space chimp home and let him chill. Whether you have a long mission behind you or a full afternoon ahead, this session IPA will help keep things real. More relaxed than an IPA, but with all the hop aroma and flavor, Down to Earth is our tribute to unsung heroes and unplanned adventures.

Appearance - Pours clear and golden yellow in color with a white, finger width head. Fair retention, breaking down to a thin film across the surface. Spotty Lacing.
Smell - Light, mellow pineapple and hints of orange.
Taste - A bit more flavor than what's found on the nose. Prominently orange flavor with touches of pineapple and a fair caramel undertone. Light pith bitterness and a hint of butterscotch in the finish.
Mouthfeel - Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Slick, silky texture.
Overall - One of the better layered Session IPA's I've had to date. Most I've had just throw in a plethora of hops and use a very generic malt base, but this one has flavor coming in from all angles, and it all comes together nicely. Great summer option. Will buy again.

Part of a variety 12-pack $19.99 Don Quijote
415 days old. They should print the date on the packaging and not just the cans.
Smell of citrus, pine
Golden slightly amber color
Medium mouthfeel
Taste some bitterness, citrus, pine
Overall ok. Probably better fresher, but can't tell by package so probably won't buy from this brewer again. Especially with 6 months age differences between the varieties in the 12 pack tells you what kind of business they run.

12oz can into a 16oz glass.
L: Pours hazy orange w/a 3/4" white foamy head. Good retention & fair carbonation. Minimal random lacing, light sheeting/veil.
S: Orange, dry pineapple, dry orange pith, a hint of caramelized malts, light doughy breadiness.
T: Bright tangy thin orange (more like orange drink than juice), citrus rind, orange pith, a hint of bread. Clean with not much linger.
F: Semi-juicy lightly zesty light bodied mouth feel w/a fast & gently drying finish.
O: A moderately citrusy light, clean & easy drinking American session IPA that is medium full flavored and is excellent in it's style.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is murky gold, head is off white with fine to small bubbles, head presents 1/2 inch thick and then dissipates to super thin top with a thicker ring along sides.
Smell is muddled hops and malt, not a thin session ipa aroma, hops are earthy and lightly citrusy, malt has a light toast and biscuit aroma, maybe some honey malt.
Taste is similar with blend of hops and malt that waffles between the two - toast, biscuit malt notes, light citrus, herbal, and earthy hops; enticing malt aroma that i can't pinpoint but like a graham cracker note.
Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness especially for a session ipa, low/moderate bitterness and then some drying.
Overall a more malty session ipa than most which is welcoming, solid hoping but not overdone and not over drying or thin tasting.

I miss Bitter American the original session IPA by 21st amendment, so I was excited to see the familiar smiling monkey astronaut face on this can of Down to Earth. I've been underwhelmed by a lot of session IPA's so i'm hoping this one will deliver on the flavor. Appearance looks like any American IPA, beautiful amber with a foamy head. Aroma is slightly vegetable or tomato. Reminding me of Firestone Walker's Union Jack. The malts jump right out and there is a candy caramel sweetness to this not unlike an British IPA which clocks in at roughly the same abv. Some pine resin on the aroma and a dash of stone fruit. Really quite aromatic. The taste is similar with just a tinge of bitterness followed by a sweet maltiness. But, the body isn't much different from their full strength IPA's and I could easily drink this and save a few extra brain cells. Very good for the style. I still miss Bitter American, but this will do. Very good.

12oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy trials of lace on the glass. It smelled of toasted bread, toffee and some citrusy notes. Sweet toasted caramel with a mild bitterness and subtle pine notes.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours yellow orange with a fluffy white head. Smells of citrus hops, but not overly strong. Tastes of citrus and grassy hops with a weaker grain profile. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, an above average beer.

Slightly cloudy copper with a one finger head that is somewhat rocky. Plenty of fast rising carbonation. Aroma is tropical fruits orange, tangerine, mango, pineapple. Taste is mostly bitter. flavor is more robust than I expected. Lots malt along with the fruits. There are also floral notes. Mouthfeel is light with slightly prickly carbonation. Finish clean and dry. Overall, I like it. I wouldn't look for it but it is a solid session beer with a lot of flavor.

Drinking this at home.
Poured from a 12 ounce can into a pint glass.
Appears golden yellow with a nice foamy head that dropped quickly to a nice 1/2 inch foam cap.
Smells lightly malty, floral, piney and citrusy.
Taste follows the nose.
Mouth feel is medium for the style, which is a Session IPA, so a little thinner than a IPA.
Overall, one of my favorite Session IPAs due to its tastiness and overall balance.
And I love the art on the can.

L: Light amber. Foamy enough. Small specs suspended throughout the liquid. Hazy.
S: Tropical hops. Citrus. Mango, papaya, lupulin oil.
T: Mellow for an IPA. Very approachable. There's a good amount of hops in here that impart an oily bitterness about the brew. It has a light pale malt base with sharp and pungent attributes as well as another layer of general bitterness in it all, leading me to believe this is at least a 3 hop blend.
F: A more oily finish than expected of a 4.4% brew, Piney moreso than citrusy despite the nose.
O: You could drink alot of these. Relatively complex and worth revisiting.
