A lovely light burnt amber with a white head of good size and consistency. Quite a bit of lace and very clear with some carbonation evident. Smell is full of bready notes, caramel, malt, and toffee with a hint of butterscotch. Hops are somewhat subdued for an IPA but give a dry leafy bitterness to the nose. Flavor is well balanced with the nose giving a good representation of the palate. What is not revealed by the olfactory is the firm grapefruit presence in the finish. Solid malt core is full of caramel, toffee, and sweet whole grain bread. Finish is dry and mildly astringent with a hop oiliness that lightly coats the back of my mouth. Complex hop blend is at once forward and well balanced. Feel is medium light and smoothly carbonated. Drinkability is superb with sessioning coming to mind in spite of the high abv. Speaking of which it only shows itself in a touch of warmth in the taste so let the drinker beware. A solid and delicious IPA. Buy some!
