Tap@21st Amendment Brewery, restaurant and bar. Nutty, soft caramel and some citrusy hops, can’t really say too much else. Drinkable. Probably not my favourite of their beers it has to be said, but by no means a bad bear, just a little underdone. Easy-going.

On tap at Rose & Crown. Reddish and clear in appearance with a one-finger off-white head. The aroma shows sweet malts, caramel and biscuit, with some nutty notes. The flavor falls somewhere between an Irish red and an American amber, with caramel and biscuit, and not much hoppiness to it, just a slight earthy note. Medium-bodied with average carbonation. Not very exciting but not bad.

Deep amber beer, topped by slightly off white head that laced nicely. Not too much aroma but some nuttiness is vague. Smooth taste with a bit of roasted character, chocolate notes as well. A decent drinkable beer that we enjoyed in the fine 21st Amendment pub

The North Star Red was served in a standard pint glass. It is a dark, hazy garnet with a skim of beige foam. Good lacing.

The nose is of grains, brown sugar and citrus.

Toasted grains backed by some sweetness and a hint of pine. It is sweet on the backend.

The mouth is soft, needs a bit more carbonation. This is an easy drinking red that hides the 32 ibus a bit to well!!

I would love to try this on cask....

Pours an dark amber with deep shades of maroon. A creamy, whispy sheet that gives a few traces of thin and spotted lacing.

Semi-sweet caramel aromas with a burnt, floral hop character. Notes of lemon and pine.

Sweetened biscuit malts with a drop of honey. Rustic floral hops; hints of citrus. Well rounded and pretty balanced in flavor. The finish is slightly dry and earthen in flavor followed by a creamy, floral hop aftertaste.

Medium bodied; creamy and earthen on the palate.

A pretty decent ale with a nice flavor profile. Far and away the best offering I sampled from 21st ammendment. Unfortunately, this isn't exactly a compliment.

Pint of this served with my buffalo chicken club sandwich.

A: Dark amber, hints of maroon. Poured with very little head, and what was left receded to leave a thin film with light lacing on the edges.

S: Caramel aromas, hints of citrusy and piney hops.

T: Roasted caramel notes at first, broadening into sweet, bready malts. Floral, piney, and citrusy hops emerge afterward. The aftertaste is dominated by the citrus hops. Rich and provided a good complement to the tasty sandwich.

M: Medium bodied, good carbonation.

D: Decent. This strikes me as a very average red, and it isn't something I'll seek out above others in the style.
