new entry in our market here in the Northeast so i'd give it a shot

can says to agitate before opening since there is yeast in the can...a couple of quick shakes before opening produced a billowing head that i had to let settle before pouring the remainder of the can in my pint glass...once settled the head was no where to be seen...bright yellow....minimal carbonation

strong scent of watermelon upon bringing up to my nose....some hints of wheat here and there but watermelon is dominant

watermelon flavor coats the mouth after each sip....strong but not cloying....good balance with the wheat flavor

a little thin, but i think this along with the watermelon flavor make it more drinkable...not much in the way of carbonation

i'm drinking this on a cool rainy night, but this would be a nice deck/beach/boat beer on a summer afternoon...might also be a nice gateway beer for the ladies out there that don't like the taste of beer

21st Amendment- Watermelon Wheat

A- Light clear yellowish orange with a small filmy head.
S- Tangy watermelon with wheat and light sugary grainy malt.
T- Light and sugary sweet watermelon with a grainy malt body and a lemony wheat finish.
M- Watery with a dry watermelon malty body and a slight dry grassy finish.

Overall- Not bad. A good summer afternoon beer. Easy to drink.

Pours a nice unfiltered golden color. However, there is little carbonation that creates a very thin white head that immediately disappears.
Smell is very faint. There is a fresh wheat smell, with not much of a watermelon or anything else going on.
Taste has much more to it than the smell. The fresh wheat works as a nice base to a very good watermelon taste. The taste is a real watermelon taste (not fake sweeteners), but it doesn't overpower things in any way.
Mouthfeel has a good thickness, but still is refreshing.
Drinkability is very nice for a fruit beer. It has a good, real fruit taste but it doesn't overwhelm the rest of the beer. As far as fruit beers go, this is one of the better and more drinkable I have had.

12oz can

Pours a pale hazy yellow color with a medium sized white head. Toasty wheat in the nose with the slightest hint of berry and spice. Interesting in flavor for the watermelon note doesnt strike the tongue until the finish. The Jolly Rancher like fruit flavor, to me, is actually quite a breath of fresh air in the world of fruit flavored wheat beers. Good drinkability, very interesting and inventive, an undeniably unique beer whether you love it of hate it. I would have this again, but not in any large quantity.

12oz can into nonic.

Hazy pale golden hue with a bright white two finger head that slowly settles to a razor thin and even thin cap.

A bit of sweet watermelon bubblegum in the aroma along with some light wheat grains.

A bit of tart wheat with a splash of sweet sugary watermelon flavor. Medium bodied with higher carbonation.

Fruity wheat beers are usually a slight miss for me, but this one seems to hit the spot. Very refreshing, and the splash of watermelon is just right. I can imagine consuming gallons of this on a hot summer day. Recommended.

In order to get the full flavor, you want to serve this slightly warmer than you would usually serve a wheat beer. It's pretty bland if too cold, but delicious at around 50 degrees.

A- Pours a slightly hazy yellow-straw color

S- Clean, bready wheat flavor with two distinct watermelon notes. There's the aroma of fresh watermelon flesh and the slightly tart aroma of "watermelon flavored" candies. Really interesting...

T- Sweet, bready flavor with a very apparent flavor of fresh watermelon. Not much else, but it's nice and simple.

M- Juicy and refreshing with a lingering flavor.

D- Really easy to drink. Light and refreshing with a really nice flavor.

Pours clouded golden with a foamy white head that slowly descends to a thin, lasting cover. Dotted lacing slides down the glass.

The smell is grainy and bready. Didn't quite catch watermelon enough to peg it as that without knowing on initial smell, but a subsequent smell, before tasting, gave a clear, strong watermelon presence.

The taste is bready/yeasty - a bit too much so with watermelon. There is an herbal touch of hops - subtle, but more than typical of the style. There is a wheat tang in the finish. The short-lived aftertaste is of having bitten a watermelon rind while drinking a decent American Pale Wheat.

It is watery thin overall, though clean and not too fizzy.

At least it is not artificial fruit syrup, and has a bit of (largely washed-out) character. It's a bit too yeasty and thin/watery. Interesting as a novelty (second watermelon beer I've had). One drinks fine, but wouldn't reach for another (even in a "watermelon mood").

I'm not a big fan of watermelon at all, but I absolutely enjoyed and loved this beer.
Pours a light, cloudy gold in color. Nice inch of frothy head forms on the pour. Smell is nice, juicy watermelon as well as some wheat. Taste is very nice. Very refreshing and welcome on a hot, humid, memorial day. The watermelon flavor never gets old or cloying. Surprising on how well it worked in the beer and how with myself not even being a watermelon fan, thoroughly loved this beer. I could drink nothing but this on a hot summer day. Very good beer.

Clear bright yellow colored liquid. A half an inch of white head topped this for a minute before fading. Almost no carbonation rising bubbles to note.

Watermelon is definitely the strongest aroma in the beer. A hint of wheat hit the nose first before being overpowered by the fruit. No hint of hops in the scent.

Watermelon is quite strong on the tongue. Wheat is also very prominent. A very faint bitterness and a plastic aftertaste finish up each sip.

Decent thickness, and a slight carbonation tingle. The off tastes cling without leaving watermelon flavors.

An OK brew. Works by itself on a hot summer day. A good beer to quench your thirst. Worthy a try for fruit lovers, and getting easier to find.

Pours light straw-golden, almost pale yellow. Minimal lacing and retention. About as pedestrian an appearance as you can get. Smells like sweet wheat, combined with just a touch of melon (at this early stage, can't tell specifically it is watermelon). Taste... there isn't a ton behind it. Like a typical wheat beer, except there isn't a huge yeasty/wheaty flavour. The watermelon blends it in very nicely, otherwise it would be very forgettable. No hop presence whatsoever. Mouthfeel is thin, kind of watery, but I think that's what they were going for. This is my definition of a craft lawnmower beer - light, straightforward, not terrible. Not sure when next I will drink, but it is a neat little change on a warm night.

a: allagash weizen glass, nice one-finger head, hazy golden-hay color, decent retention but eventually falls to nothing

s: clean, weak wheat malts and a very subtle aroma of genuine watermelon - just perceptible at first but eventually coming out after warming slightly, hops very mild, borefest

m: carbonation around medium, light body, lacks the smooth liveliness expected from a wheat

t: clean wheat malt base, watery and weak, with the watermelon a bit more apparent than on the aroma, dilute fresh watermelon juice, mild grassy hops in the finish, a little more going on than on the nose, but meh

d: despite being watery and bland, it is highly drinkable, though I can assure you I won't be purchasing any $10 six-packs of this one

A clear golden color with a small off white head. Not a ton of retention or lacing.

Smells sweet, watermelon is pretty noticeable.

There is a little bit of a wheat backbone, but the dominating characteristic is a sweet, artificial tasting watermelon flavor. It's not terrible like a lot of fruit beers are, but I'm not crazy about it either.

Light to medium bodied with fairly low carbonation.

Too sweet for me overall.

21st Amendment Watermelon Wheat pours up with ample carbonation that creates a modest white head that rises above the slight hazy, golden-peach colored body. Some lacing, but not as much as one would expect from a wheat beer. The name suggests lots of fruitiness, but the aroma gives very little. Just a touch of must melon, cantelope & bean sprouts with a hint of wheat berries. The flavor starts off a bit sugary with some graininess + bitterness that helps carry this one along to a short, sweet finish. Surprisingly clean & refreshing which is its saving grace. This one gets my vote as the ultimate frisbee-golf beer! A definite must try for yourself-type of beer. Love it or hate it? You decide.

(Served in an American pint glass)

A- This beer pours a hazy dark yellow body with a nice off-white head of soft peaks that quickly turns bubble and is gone before the second sip. A strong carbonation of big bubbles keeps racing through the beer.

S- The aroma of pale malt has a white bread crust aroma that has hints of caramel malt coming through softly as it warms and a green pine hint followed by a faint watermelon note.

T- The taste of white wheat bread has some caramel hints that lead to a pleasant watermelon taste that is not sweet and not artificial. The watermelon blends into a soft hop note that finishes the beer nicely.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a fizzy finish that really cleans out the taste.

D- This beer really works. As it warms the watermelon becomes softer and the caramel malt hints and wheat bread flavors grow. This is a very easy beer to drink and I could have several in a session.

Almost three finger of fuzzy white head has huge popping bubbles that turn rocky as it slowly fades. Body is a hazy golden straw colored that truely glows when held to light. Nose has tones of citrus, honey dew, fresh dried wheat and sassafras. With first sip you sit back and see that there is this juicy hint of melon that bursts onto the palate. Some pale rustic hops join with the soft wheat feel that leaves a consistent mellow hue on the mouthfeel. the fruit in this one is more like watermelon rind. Super clean and nicely drinkable. Would make a wonderful summer beer.

I have had this out of a can several times now. Pours a crisp, macro like yellow, with a thick white head. The carbonation on these also is pretty macro-esque high. The smell picks up some candy sweetness, that is picked up in the beer as well. While this is usually a little too sweet for me, it hits the spot on a hot summers day. My wife also really enjoys this beer.

12 oz can into a pint glass. Special thanks go to thequeue for this back in the Secret Santa '08 BIF.

Pours a clear gold with several fingers of rigid brite-white head. Retains with a thin layer of foam that skims the surface, leaving spotty lacing back that sticks. The aroma is light bread and floral tones with a definite fruity sweetness to it but I'm not readily picking it out as watermelon though.

The taste is pale malts balanced my some light hop activity. Watermelon is much more evident in the taste. The taste isn't overdone but does come off as a bit artificial. The mouthfeel, as you would expect, is light bodied with a soft carbonation and all around easy feel.

There was anything actively bad about this but IMO, watermelon just doesn't cut it as a fruit in my beer. It always comes out tasting like someone threw a watermelon Jolly Rancher into a light-bodied Pale Ale. Just not my cup-of-tea.

Thanks to sirpyscho for this as an extra in a recent trade.
Poured a cloudy golden color with a small head that faded fairly quickly. Leaving no lacing.
Not getting much on the nose. Just a touch of some wheat maltiness and a light touch of fruity sweetness. Can't really detect any watermelon on the nose at all.
Taste almost like a watermelon jolly rancher. Almost like a wheatbeer winecooler. Not normally what I would drink.
Very carbonated and very refreshing. I may drink a couple of these on a hot july day. Try it if you get a chance but I wouldn't go out of my way to get some.

Cool extra from a great trade with googzoid10 - thanks Greg! 12 oz. from a can into a Victory Weiss glass...

Pours a decent straw wheat color with 1/2 finger head that goes pretty quickly. Lacing is present and not too bad.

There's a big raw malt/wheat aroma and sweetness from watermelon meat. There is a tannic quality to the watermelon that gives it a little tinniness.

Interesting - watermelon feels good on the palate and I can taste the husky nature of the watermelon "fibers" regardless of whether it's extract or puree. That metallic tinge is there but gets a bit better with warmth.

Palate feel is affected by the watermelon tannins - very husky with a tight finish.

Label says "agitate before opening" - not sure how much of an effect there is here. The watermelon taste is rather natural, there's raw malt and at the pool this thing would fit in quite well.

Pours a light gold color, a little cloudy, with a faint white head.

Aromas are nice, light watermelon, cream, and candied sugars.

This kind of tastes like a watermelon jolly rancher. Though the watermelon flavors aren't overly strong. There is some creaminess, sugars, and some wheat spices.

Mouthfeel is pretty good, surprisingly fuller than I thought it would be.

Drinkability is pretty good. It's a bit of a novelty, and that wore off towards the end of the can. But it's light, tasty, and would be pretty nice for the summer time. Worth a try, but don't go out of your way to get this.

Thanks goes out to BrewerB for this brew.

Pours a nice hazy yellow color, nice carbonation, nice one-finger foamy white head, which dissappears quickly, leaving some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, grassy, very slight watermelon notes. The taste is better with watermelon, malty, slightly grassy. Medium body. Drinkable, tasty brew.

Received in a package from Floydster. Thanks for the opportunity to try this one,Kyle.

Poured from the can into a Goose Island tasting glass, split with my wife.
Gave the can a few gentle swirls to agitate per instructions on the can.
Poured a cloudy, straw color with a nice one finger white head.
Crisp, clean almost dry scent, no real hint of watermelon or any fruit for that matter.
The first sip reveals the sweet taste of the watermelon.
Somewhat fruity in the middle with a light airyness to it, interesting.
Had a dry, almost champagne like finish to it.
I'm pretty sure my wife liked this beer more than I did but it has teased me enough to give it another try if given the chance.

Recommended on the novelty of a watermelon beer alone.

Very pale and brite with tiny rope-like particulate (doesn't appear to be an infection). Big white head with nice retention.

Almost a pils or marco-like nose, you would only guess watermelon if you knew it was there.

Mild bitterness first, which recedes to nice malts and gentle watermelon. You'd never even know it was a wheat beer; I remember a much more German style. wheat beer from the brewer's own taps. The flavors work well but its not the most exciting beer. I swear they use San Francisco yeast and not a wheat beer yeast; minimal esters.

Refreshing, but I imagine that the wheat body-watermelon combo would either get to be too much of a novelty or would get too sickeningly sweet to drink al night.

Not bad, and quite different, but don't go out of your way. Cheers!

P: Pours a faded yellow straw color, mostly opaque with an off-white head that leaves some sticky lacing as it falls.

A: Aromas predominately of sweet malt, butter biscuit, vanilla, and what can be deciphered as slowly melting watermelon sherbet. Hints of hops in the background.

T: Mostly sweet caramelized malts with hints of watermelon starbursts. Sweetness kind of overwhelms, lacks balance.

M: Somewhat heavy, soupy for a wheat. Noticeable carbonation.

D: Unbalanced, odd brew. Certainly not what I'd expect from a wheat brew.

biegaman hooked me up with this one. thanks jan!

12oz can. sampled jan 31/09.

pours deep golden yellow with just a touch of haze. a small fine white head forms, dropping quickly and leaves a few spots of lace.

aroma is ok. bit of alcohol. wheat bread. cracker. touch of biscuit. it's fairly fruity, but i can't say that i'd pick it as watermelon. it's a bit off-putting too - i get a bit of a sweat sock thing from it that i'm not too keen on.

taste is good. the watermelon does come through here, but not in an unpleasant or overbearing way. white bread. bit of cracker. not at all sweet. light alcohol. low bitterness level.

mouthfeel is great. medium-high carbonation level. nice light body with a fairly dry finish.

drinkability is pretty good. this one grew on me a little along the way, but i can't say that i'll be searching out mass quantities of it. still, it was nice and i wouldn't say no to another.
