Almost three finger of fuzzy white head has huge popping bubbles that turn rocky as it slowly fades. Body is a hazy golden straw colored that truely glows when held to light. Nose has tones of citrus, honey dew, fresh dried wheat and sassafras. With first sip you sit back and see that there is this juicy hint of melon that bursts onto the palate. Some pale rustic hops join with the soft wheat feel that leaves a consistent mellow hue on the mouthfeel. the fruit in this one is more like watermelon rind. Super clean and nicely drinkable. Would make a wonderful summer beer.

Brought this beer into the store because some guy told me a story about how he was stranded on the side of the road in Nevada and that he found a can of this and it saved his life. Will it save mine? Probably not, but this guy has a story and I'll try and relive it.

I was really put off by this beer at first but after a few sips and some time to air out, its starting to grow on me. Oddly enough this beer presents itself in a way which is the opposite of which you think it would. Up front first is the wheatiness of the beer, touch of coriander with grain husk. This mid sized body thins out into a semi sweet watermelon effervescence and a dry finish. Overall mimosa like with some watermelon juice.

For what it is, its refreshing fruity and unlike anything I've ever had before. It takes a little while to understand it and enjoy it, but its one of the most innovative beers I've had.

Poured into a fluted pint glass, color is opaque pale gold. No head and no lacing.

Smell is odd, mix of wheat malt and mild bitterness but not a normal flavor mix.

Taste is big hit of watermelon, but too punch, can definitely taste concentrate off flavors. The malt finishes up the flavor with a mild bitterness in there as well.

Mouthfeel is a good balance of sweetness and hint of bitter with some lingering pleasant watermelon.

Overall, an interesting brew, something off in the scent and a little two pungent of watermelon flavor upfront.

Poured into a wiezen glass at 40 degrees

Appearance: one finger foamy white head that has no retention. The color of the beer is a medium yellow with pale yellow hues. The clarity of the beer is cloudy probably due to yeast. The head no longer remains in the beer.

Nose: The aroma of wheat and grass are the most prominent aromas. The watermelon aroma is faint but of course there is really no smell to watermelon. The only other aroma in the beer is yeast.

Taste: predominately wheat with notes of citrus and grass. The watermelon is there along with the yeast and a subtle sweetness like honey.

The mouth feel of the beer is carbonated with a crisp finish.

Overall: the body of the beer is light and the finish is medium. Although, you can't taste the watermelon in the beer, it is a pretty apparent going down. This is a good fruit and herb beer. This beer would be great on a nice sunny summer afternoon.

12 oz can, dated 3/26/12. It was poured into my petite Duvel tulip.

Hell or High Watermelon poursa somewhat hazy golden yellow. Three or so fingers of white foam cap the beer, but it all fades quickly and quietly. The nose has a bit of a Jolly Rancher watermelon type aroma to it, but there's also another smell that I can't quite place, but it definitely doesn't belong. This is quite simply the worst beer I've ever tasted. The flavor is what I'd imagine it would taste like if you let the leftover milk from a bowl of cereal sit out for a day and then tried to drink it. The body has a weird creaminess to it, only highlighting the awful taste. The carbonation is on the low side. If I ever did a video review of Hell or High Watermelon, it would probably end up a bit like the "I award you zero points, may God have mercy on your soul" speech from Billy Madison.

12oz canned on 3/26/12

Pours a very cloudy, very pale yellow, with a slight ring of head. Great unfiltered look. Smell is grain, corn, and sour/rancid watermelon. Very light smell, which is good because what I do pick up is awful. The taste is much better, it's bright fresh grain/wheat with a watermelon twist at the end. The watermelon isn't as powerful as I expected it to be, which is a good thing. Carbonated well, it is a tad watery and has an odd 'plastic' feel to it at times.

A good easy drinking beer for the summer months. A little too expensive, tho.

Cool extra from a great trade with googzoid10 - thanks Greg! 12 oz. from a can into a Victory Weiss glass...

Pours a decent straw wheat color with 1/2 finger head that goes pretty quickly. Lacing is present and not too bad.

There's a big raw malt/wheat aroma and sweetness from watermelon meat. There is a tannic quality to the watermelon that gives it a little tinniness.

Interesting - watermelon feels good on the palate and I can taste the husky nature of the watermelon "fibers" regardless of whether it's extract or puree. That metallic tinge is there but gets a bit better with warmth.

Palate feel is affected by the watermelon tannins - very husky with a tight finish.

Label says "agitate before opening" - not sure how much of an effect there is here. The watermelon taste is rather natural, there's raw malt and at the pool this thing would fit in quite well.
