P- Wegmans

A- a huge frothy 3 finger head that really shoots up when you start to pour. The colors is a pale yellow color. Decent sticking to the pint as well.

S- a wheaty melon like nose. Fruity tartness comes through as well.

T- a mlid melon taste but there is more metallic and dry whea that hits the tongue. Nothing more to say about flavor. Pretty bland.

M- foamy and a metallic watermelon coating on the inside of the mouth.

O-its not awful, but im not sure it works all that well. The sweet watermelon flavor gets lost with the wheaty taste and it seems more tart than it should be. Not bad but i wouldnt purchase more of it.

A 12 ounce can into a snifter...

The pour is a translucent hay color with about a half inch of bubbly, white head. The head dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing. The smell is perhaps the most off-putting part for me; for some reason, I can't detect anything past a terrible, strong, curdled milk scent. I can't even find the damn watermelon in the nose. I brace for the taste… ah, found the watermelon! There is a dominating, yet artificial watermelon flavor reminiscent of a jolly rancher or some other sugary candy. An odd milk like flavor sits between the melon and a faint wheat base. The mouthfeel is light, and a bit lively from the carbonation. Nothing spectacular, as it is a bit thin. I will be avoiding this in the future.

Review dated 2/15/2009.

On tap at the brewpub. Hazy yellow color with a small white head and a watermelon slice on the glass. Aroma is lots of watermelon. Flavor is wheaty with - you guessed it - watermelon. Pretty sour and almost cidery on the finish. Light on the palate, refreshing but a little off-balance in my opinion.

Cloudy pale straw colour with a small head. No lacing and poor head retention.

Fresh and fruity watermelon aroma with a touch of sweetness. Almost a touch sugary.

Light wheat flavour with a hit of watermelon. Good balance.

Light body with moderate carbonation. Fine.

A decent fruit beer but nothing worth writing home about. Worth trying once and I hear it's better on tap than in the can.

12oz can, procured somewhere in Southern Idaho last month. I like the lounging Lady Liberty image on the label, where she's lifting a gargantuan watermelon from a passing barge in San Francisco Bay.

This beer pours a hazy bright medium golden hue, with two fingers of frothy, foamy white head, which leaves little in the way of persistent lacing around the glass as things melt away. It smells of fruity wheat grain, melon-like, I suppose, with a fair amount of dry yeast. The taste is soft sweet wheat malt, and frozen watermelon fleshy fruitiness, with a bit of grassy hop bitterness. The carbonation is quite low, the body light, but not without weight, mostly of the fruity variety, which renders things rather smooth. It finishes off-dry, and clean, the initial eponymous fruit punch (heh) petering out.

While not a bad beer overall, the focus on the watermelon as guest starring ingredient has predictably feeble results - an echo of an already delicate flavour doesn't add up to strong, memorable flavours. That said, agreeable enough for days like this (+30 degrees), where ease of drinkability and cute advertising rule.

poured from 12oz can into pint glass

A-Pours a pale straw yellow with head that rises and falls quickly

S-smells fruity not necessarily watermelon though

T-Watermelon is there, don't know if I would know that it was a wheat beer if it didn't say so on the can.

M-good carbonation, maybe a little watery

O-MIght make a good beer to have occasionally on a hot day, but I can't get them around here so it will be very occasionally for me.

Poured from the can into a DFH Snifter.

A--Pours a light golden yellow with a small white head that didn't last long. Not much retention throughout the beer

S--First thing I get is the watermelon concentrate. It's a sickly sweet taste. From there I get a bit of wheat and some yeast. Light smelling, but it has a prominence to it.

T--The watermelon is nice. Then comes a wheat aftertaste. Finishes with a bit of a yeast bill on the palate.

M--Very light bodied. Tiny bit of carbonation. Water feel as well.

O--This is the perfect beer and my go-to for a brew to take with me to South Beach on the weekends. Overall, though, there are better wheat beers out there. I would recommend it for what it is. Something I will pick up again.

This is a great, light, summer sipping beer. It's not the best fruit beer out there, nor is it the worst. It's above average. Best consumed on hot days from the can!

Pours with average head, dissipates quickly, average straw/amber color.

Aromas are good, some watermelon and other citrus with a little yeasty note. Mild and smooth on the palate. Not overly complex, but enjoyable. Much more natural and balanced than most (commercialized) fruit beers.

A - Pours a clear golden color with a finger of crisp white head atop. The head fades down fairly quickly leaving behind no lace.

S - Aroma is a mix of fruit watermelon esters and a bit of wheat and grain. There is just a touch of yeast in the background. Not overly aromatic.

T - Starts off with a bit of sweet and slightly tart watermelon flavor. Tastes like fairly fresh watermelon. There is just a bit of grain alongside to balance. Through the middle, the grain steps up a bit and just a bit of yeast comes through. The finish is a mix of watermelon and wheat flavors that linger just a bit.

M - Close to light bodied with mild carbonation. Feels smooth and crisp, but just a bit thin and watery.

D - Very drinkable. The watermelon flavor is very nice, but it just needed a bit more flavor and body. Felt refreshing, but just a bit empty.

Poured a pale straw gold into a pint glass with a finger of loose white head. Mild aroma of honey and wheat.

Moderate carbonation and a light, creamy mouthfeel. Plenty of watermelon up front with bread/wheat and a light grassy bitterness on the finish.

Very refreshing and easy drinking, although the watermelon borders on Jolly Rancher-esque artificial sweetness after a while.

A - Nothing special A pale straw color with minimal head and no retention.

S - I kind of liked the smell of watermelon, but other than that there is just the slightest hint of wheat.

T - Unspectacular but pleasantly refreshing.

M -Very little. A lot like macro.

O - OK paradoxically, I enjoyed this beer, but not because it resembled anything I would call "craft beer." I would consider this nice and interesting lawnmower beer. Sort of like the pleasure one would get drinking a Pabst or Natty Boh but with watermelon--which ain't a bad thing!

A: poured a murky straw yellow in color with yellow highlights and a thin head leaving a little lacing sticking to the glass.

S: definitely was able to sniff out some watermelon notes with lots of sweetness I'm guessing is from the grains and wheat but slight citrus notes.

T: the watermelon character pretty much dominated the palate as well with juice like qualities but with more sweetness from the grains and wheat. Kind of reminded me of the watermelon bubblicious bubble gum.

M: the brew was medium in body with a fair amount of carbonation which had a watermelon fruity, sweet, grainy, mild citrusy finish.

D: overall it did drink real easy, not overly sweet and could really enjoy some of these on a hot summer day poolside. It was a decent fruit style beer.

12oz can $1.99 Hazy yellow color, looks murky with a pillowtop head. Smells faintly of watermelon and wheat. The flavor was heavy watermelon juice, so much so that it almost felt artificially flavored but I liked it anyway. For me this would be a good hot weather beer but not a session beer since I wouldn't want more than one.

A: Pours a cloudy, straw-yellow body with a small fizzy head that doesn't last;. some visible carboantion.

S: A very thin nose of wheat and watermelon. Nothing amazing.

T: The flavors I don't think mesh well, perhaps because they're so watered down. Some wheat notes and a hint of watermelon. Reminds me of a bad "bitch" beer.

M: Light body; carbonation feels forced or fake like club soda; watery texture.

O: I didn't enjoy this beer. I don't see myself getting this again anytime soon nor recommending this to other. I usually enjoy their beers, but this one is a miss.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. It is a nice golden hue and slightly cloudy a very nice colored wheat. The head was gone within a minute almost as fast as a MGD.

Aroma is wheat and malt and sour watermelon like the wheat and malt not so much the melon. It reminds me of a jolly rancher.

Found the taste rather bland. The hint of watermelon is not that pleasant.

I found the mouthfeel a little flat could use more carbonation.

Kind of an average beer.

First wanted to say that the photo on BA is old. The new can design is much cooler in my opinion.

A- Poured an orange/ amber color with a white head that dissipated quickly.

S- Smells like what an average wheat beer should smell like with a hint of watermelon in it. The watermelon smell, smells like the rind of a melon. It is definitively watermelon but is more like a melon before it ripens.

T- Mild sweetness of wheat initially, then that not quite ripe watermelon taste. Again taste just like it smells. More of the rind taste that a normal melon. I really liked it though.

M- Overall the feel is rather thin but was an easy drinker that felt refreshing in the mouth and smooth on the way down.

O- Nice an crisp beer that is perfect for the summer time and this terrible heat wave we are in. Easily could enjoy one of these after cutting the grass or while cooking out or any other summertime activities.

Poured from a can to a standard pint glass (this review from notes taken 7/21/11).

A - Pours a slightly cloudy orange/golden straw color, with 1/2-finger of off-white head that fizzled away quickly. Particles of sediment in suspension, and a little bit of thing lacing.

S - Very mild nose, with a bit of grassy, sunny wheat hidden within a dominating melon-rind/cucumber scent.

T - Mild flavor as well, semi-sweet melon flavor more reminiscent of the white part of a watermelon rind than the pink meat. A bit of sodawater bitterness on the finish, with a sweet wheaty aftertaste.

M - Lighter body, though not thin or watery. Fizzy carbonation bites the edges of the tongue.

D - Light flavor and body makes this crisp and refreshing. The watermelon isn't all that sweet, though it still dominates the mild flavor. It tastes "cool", not bright or warm like a regular wheat beer would, though it didn't have as much flavor as I wanted it to.

As an afterthought, it's "cool" flavor paired really well with spicy Mexican food I ate after my initial tastes.

The beer pours a hazy light yellow color with a white head. The aroma is mainly wheat but I also get a nice bit of light watermelon. The flavor is wheat, juicy watermelon and a light bit of tartness. Light to medium mouthfeel and medium mouthfeel. A nicely done fruit beer that doesn't taste artificial or overpower you with sweetness.

A: Poured from the can into a Sam Smith's nonic. Body is murky stra-yellow with a small head that's gone quickly.

S: Some grain, and some sort of fruitiness - I wouldn't say watermelon if I hadn't known there was watermelon in this beer.

T: There's the watermelon. It's not in-your-face, but it's there. It actually kind of works - light taste of watermelon over the wheat twang. Lingering fruitiness though isn't exactly my cup of tea - of course, this from someone who generally doesn't like fruit beers. The more I drink it, the more it tastes like one of those hard watermelon candies.

M: Carbonation feels active, though fine-bubbled, on the front of the mouth and lips. Body is light.

O: Interesting. I bought a single can of this and it will be the last can I buy. Not bad for what it is, but like I said, I'm not a fan of fruit beers in general and I don't really see the gain in putting watermelon in beer.

With the initial pour, it appears rather thin, colored a clear pale honey-yellow. Thick wisps of a wheaty haze fall as it sits, eventually clouding the entire brew and darkening the color to a more uniform honey-gold – though the thickness remains 0n the thin side. The carbonation is quick and sparkling, erupting as it hits the glass and building a nice 3-finger thick head of thin, lacy foam that sticks around for quite a while afterwards, falling into a gossamer ring and sheer patches as I sip it. While the bubbles seem hardy enough, they refuse to stick to the side of the glass, leaving no trace it was ever there.

The aroma is very light, carrying hints of watermelon and fresh-cut rind, minimal hops, faint grainy notes and some wheat malt, but none are heavy enough to make a lasting impression until the beer is near room-temperature.

Hell or High Watermelon holds a light body, dry mouthfeel, and moderate semi-spicy carbonation. The clean, crisp authentic watermelon flavor is immediately present at the forefront, and fades into a lighter, sweet melon tang while touches of grainy wheat and malt follow through to the end. The profile of this beer overall is very light, but that doesn’t keep it from being the perfect thirst quencher, especially when it’s 115º outside. As much as I disagree with the current stereotypes of women and (fruit) beer, I think that this could be an awesome first step into the craft beer world for both men and women who are still trying to become interested and want to ease themselves in.

By my rating, you can tell I enjoyed this beer quite a bit. I was looking for a slighlty sweet summer beer to have during cook outs and BBQs, or sitting by the pool and relaxing in the sun. Sit back with a BBQ burger, fruit salad, and enjoy the sunny day.

A: Average for a beer. You can see lots of carbonation, and there is not much of a head. But for a crisp, summer beer, I don't WANT a large head on my beer. Also, an extra .5 for the can design.

S: GREAT. Crack open the can and pour and just smell grain and fresh melon. One of those beers you love to take a full nose full when you drink.

T: The melon is more in the background of the taste. You get just the quick hint of bitterness, then the flavor of some more popular wit beers, where replacing some citrus notes is the melon. It does not linger long at all, but it refreshes very well.

MF: The high carbonation just works with the overall package. It is every so slighlty syrupy as well. It all helps the beer become a refreshing package.

To those who have bought a 6 pack and don't enjoy it, save one for a BBQ, and give it another shot. For low bitterness/refreshing summer beers, this is one of my favorites.

21st Amendment has always intrigued me, despite never making anything that has ever really blown my hair back. Maybe its just the cans, but regardless, I found myself buying this, thinking it would be an interesting and unique summer beer. At the very worst, its first watermelon beer I've ever tried...

Pours a light golden yellow with a slight yeasty haze. Perhaps a finger or so of head that fizzles out pretty quickly. Boasts lousy retention and no lacing as it dies down. Quite frankly, for a wheat beer this is disappointing.

Smells of watermelon rind and golden wheat, with a slight sour quality. Reminds me of candy almost, like what I'd imagine a Starburst would smell like in liquid form.

Tastes pretty much as the can advertises. Watermelon flavoring up front with a wheat backbone. Tangy aftertaste with the most minimal hop bitterness for balance. Different for sure, and actually, quite good.

Mouthfeel is reasonably light and incredibly easy-drinking. Wouldn't consider this a session beer necessarily though, as it may be a bit of a novelty. I might get sick of it after a few.

Overall, this accomplishes what it sets out to do. A refreshing summer beer that proves itself as an ideal pool lounging candidate that your girlfriend probably won't argue with. Worth a shot if you like wheat beers.

Poured into an imperial pint glass. Color was a very very pale golden with a few thin strands of bubbles rising from the bottom. A reasonable head formed upon pour, but quickly left just a thin layer that clung just a bit to the sides. Aroma was a bit off putting, smelled slightly sour with a hint of pickles and grain. Taste was of watered down watermelon bubble gum or diluted sorbet. Not a natural flavor, but one that was easily identifiable. Felt thin and watery in the mouth. Didn't coat at all and had just a tad of carbonation while drinking. Overall was a blah beer. Might be fun to bust out as a gimmick while friends are over at a BBQ mid summer, but nothing I would want to drink on a regular basis.

A: Unfiltered, golden yellow color. Absolutely no head. Looks like a ton of carbonation coming off the bottom.

S: A little bit of soft sour citrus notes, with a touch of watermelon rind. Fresh baked bread aroma also.

T: Tastes kind of like I just bit into the rind of the watermelon. I don’t taste much actual watermelon juice. Its both bitter and sweet, but not in a good way. Finishes pretty clean, and doesn’t leave much flavor to linger.

M: Pretty light/thin feeling beer. Plenty of carbonation.

O: Not a very good beer. It’s a weird flavor that I didn’t expect and really doesn’t deliver the promised watermelon taste. I find it extremely strange that this beer is one of the best sellers at Winking Lizard. I won’t be buying this beer and will stick to other offerings from 21st Amendment.

Cool looking can with the statue of liberty sitting on the Golden Gate bridge

A-Veiled pale yellow devoid of any head. A vigorous pour only leads to some soda-like fizzing.

S-Slighly sweet, sour funky, somewhat earthy. I may be picking up some watermelon but I may also be imagining it.

T-Interesting brew. Watermelon is definately present at the fore, slighly sweet and very thirst quenching. The brew falls apart at the back end, however, some wheat and mild hop twang lead to a rather lackluster finish. I'm giving it higher points than I normally would because the idea of watermelon beer is just so friggin cool

M-I am tempted to say thin, but it is merely light.

D-the former "drinkablility" category. I actually would buy this again..it is not great, but it is refreshing and unusual. I dig offbeat stuff, and this certainly is that. Low in abv to pound down in the summer heat...I like a summer refresher that lets me drink more of it.
