A - Poured brilliant yellow and fairly clear. The head was about 1/2" thick and off white. As it settled it became slightly cloudy and the head dissipated quickly, down to a thin coating.

S - It smells sweet, fruity, barley any hops are in there. It's almost cloyingly sweet.

T - The taste of melon is up front, followed by the grain and hint of hop in the finish. Then the watermelon comes back. It's not as sweet as it smells. There is an oddly sweet aftertaste.

M - A bit thinner that I expected, but pretty close for the style. The sweet meloniness sticks to the tongue.

D - This one is not exactly in my wheel house, but those that like sweet wheat's, this may be OK. I think I will only have one. Certainly not my favorite offering from 21A (750 characters)

I didn't know what to expect but some guys recommended this @ Beltway Liquors, here in Baltimore. I'm usually disappointed when it comes to "novelty beers" so I did not have high expectations; this one is pretty refreshing, though. Don't expect to be overwhelmed with the watermelon flavor, it's pretty subtle and comes in toward the back of the taste. Almost zero hoppiness, I do detect a little spice in there. Makes for an interesting combination with the watermelon. I think this would be an excellent session beer in warm weather. Would pair nicely with salad or most any kind of fruit. Moderate carbonation--seems like just the right amount for this beer. Nothing remarkable a/b smell or appearance. Cans make for excellent portability and more compact for storage. (771 characters)

Hazy golden color. Quite lively when poured. OK aroma-somewhat yeasty and wheat like. Moderate level of fruitiness. Rather chemical and industrial flavor. While it might be described as "watermelon" I find it to be more like tasting the rind or pith from one. Not overly unpleasant but just does not work. OK body for the style-crisp finish. A bit of a dissapointment. I would tend to think a watermelon beer would be hard to pull off-they didnt get there with this one for sure. (479 characters)

Pours a hazy golden-orange color, with a minimal amount of fluffy white foam. Not much going on in the nose here, with the exception of the watermelon. Not so much fruit, but more like a watermelon jolly rancher. A little sweetness on the palate, some light wheat, but again mostly the somewhat cloying fake watermelon taste. Nothing special here, just a decent light beer with fake fruit flavor. (396 characters)

Presentation: 12 oz. can into a nonic.

A-Pours a hazy pale golden. Pours with ~1 1/2 fingers of crisp white head, which fades rapidly to a sparse ring of bubbles.

S- Very feint on the nose. Hints of grain/rice, and a wheaty, sour twang. I am struggling to conjure any distinct watermelon, but simply can't find any.

T- Interesting. I've found the watermelon that was missing from the smell. Really, it's heavier on rind, and lesser on the sweet flesh, with a bit of that tartness that you get on the las scrapping bite from a wedge....Hints of yeastiness. Quite odd, but well short of awful. I'm not hating this....

M- Fairly crisp and light bodied, with moderate carbonation.

D- Pretty decent. Easy drinking, low ABV%; most of the hallmarks of a sessionable beer...though the unusual/interesting flavor would mitigate my desire to consume many at once.

Future outlook: A novel beer that didn't punish me for trying it....worth trying on those grounds, but not really worthy of seeking out. (997 characters)

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Light brown, tan color. Scents of dry grass, hay that is slightly fermented. No real watermelon flavor to speech of. The wheat flavor was more like dry toast. No balance of malts or of hops. Watery mouthfeel. Very little drinkable nature. (275 characters)

Pours a nearly clear golden/yellow color with a solid froth of white head.
Smell is lightly malted- bread and a small fruit smell.
Taste is fairly light- bread and regular malt here.
Finish is wettish with a very solid watermelon after-taste.
Drinks easy- obviously sessionable- refreshing if it was a hot day (309 characters)

Pours BMC pale yellow with very little head. The aroma is slightly fruity, but not in any way identifiable as watermelon. The taste is not overwhelmingly watermelon like. More like a half ounc of watermelon schnapps dropped into the top of my glass. Refreshingly sweet, I feel that this would be a very popular beer if it were a little bit cheaper. As it is, It wasn't terrible. (378 characters)

Poured from a can into a snifter. This was a gift from Matt, thanks. Beer is yellow and hazy, forms a thick white head (I poured it hard) that falls away into a thin head of small white bubbles. The initial head left some lacing on the glass. Its a little under carbed but it looks OK.

Aroma has a slight Jolly Rancher watermelon character to it...general sweetness. Kind of simple.

Clean, finishes nicely, medium body, grainy in the back, that's fine, some sweetness up front with the watermelon in the middle. Its about what you'd expect a watermelon wheat to taste like. Second taste, mouthfeel is fine, drinkability is fine. Nothing special, I like this brewery but this beer is just OK. (693 characters)

A-Pours a goldenrod yellow with a one finger white head that quickly dissipates.

S-Wheat with a faint watermelon note. The nose is pretty muted.

T-Wheat with a little bit of watermelon. I was expecting more watermelon.

M-Decent amount of carbonation with thin body.

D-Easy drinking although its not something I'd buy again. (327 characters)

A - Pours with plenty of white head that quickly died down to a slight white lacing. The beer has a slight golden haze.

S - Starts out with an stale wheat aroma and then a slight artificial watermelon comes through.

T - The wheat is understated but the watermelon comes out in the flavor. The watermelon isn't overdone which makes this something I might buy to feed to friends just to get reactions.

M/D - Mouthfeel is thin, but average for a wheat. The watermelon flavor is novel, but I'm not sure it'll be something I crave. (529 characters)

Can, home. I'm not a big fan of most fruit beers and had been putting off trying this particular beer for a long time, and I'm quite surprised to find that I like it. It's not the prettiest thing ever - hazy pale gold with a minimal head. The aroma is wheatier and maltier than expected. Though there's a fairly strong candy fruit flavor to it, but it's not cloying. The feel is a bit thick and viscous, particularly for the abv. The flavor is relatively dry. The watermelon flavor doesn't taste artificial. The base beer doesn't really live up to the watermelon flavor. I'm not really sure what would, though. It's a nice flavor but not very beery. Good beer for a hot day. (674 characters)

A: Pale yellow with white head that dissipates rather quickly.

S: Light, and a little rice scent in there. Some earthy tones as well. Not a lot of watermelon.

T: The first thing I get is a 'dish sponge' taste.. Dirty or grimy.. Definitely some nice watermelon in there at the end, it tastes like real watermelon, not like a syrup, or flavoring. Overall it tastes a little dirty, and watery. Interesting, but not my bag.

M: Carbonation is good, though the mouthfeel is a little watery.

D: No thanks. Might be great for some folks as a summer beer, but there is something right at the front that I just can't get past. It tastes like someone wiped up watermelon juice with a dish sponge and carbonated it. I like their other offerings though, and would love to see more of their beers distributed here. (807 characters)

This is an odd beer, but they pull off the watermelon-wheat combination fairly well. The yeast is clearly American rather than European, so the yeastiness is subtle and not very complex. The aroma is fruitier than the flavor, which is a fairly typical American Wheat with just a hint of upfront sweetness and sourness in the aftertaste. The watermelon is natural tasting but almost closer to watermelon peel (which I've had pickled) than fresh watermelon.

This would be a very drinkable and refreshing summer beer. (516 characters)

-Pours to a light yellow color slightly darker than a lite beer.
-The smell is all watermelon. A hint of wheat or a bready smell but way too much watermelon.
-I am sad to say the taste is bad. Its more than slightly tart with a poor watermelon flavor. Leaves a bad aftertaste.
- Way too light on the carbonation, like a flat lite beer, causing the bitterness to really stand out.
- This beer was one of the firstbeers that I just could not finish. I likened itto drinkingbaby vomit. At no point in life did anyone ata BBQ say, "Hey, I'm eating watermelon, I'm drinking beer, boy would they go good together." Beer and watermelon, two great tastes that DO NOT go great together. (677 characters)

A- A hazy, yellow beer with some floaters and a thin, splotchy white head.

S- White bread and a sweet, indistinguishable fruitiness. Not as potent of a watermelon punch as I was expecting.

T- Sweet watermelon and bread with caramel. A tad tart at the end.

M- A carbonation bite, but the sweetness keeps it refreshing.

D- A great warm weather beer. This has been on my "to try" list for awhile, and it doesn't disappoint. (424 characters)

Pours a light, cloudy, golden yellow(looks like pineapple juice). Small white head fades quickly, no lacing.

Smells of biscuits and watermelon.

Taste like someone put a watermelon jolly rancher in a glass of lite beer.

Feels like soda water in the mouth.

The drinkability is zero for me. I haven't poured a beer in awhile but this one is going down the drain. (364 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a Macado's Halloween 2009 shaker pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a hazy goldenrod color with a small, foamy white head. The head dissipates quickly and leaves minimal lacing.

Smell: Smells strongly of watermelon (obviously). The smell of watermelon masks much of whatever else might be there. There are some yeasty/wheaty hints but they are barely noticeable through the watermelon.

Taste: Kind of light on flavor. Starts off tasting like watermelon sparkling water. Finishes with hints of yeast and wheat (like your typical wheat beer) but that is effectively masked by a sickly sweet watermelon aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Watery and a little flat. Could do with more carbonation.

Drinkability: Meh...This is a pretty bland beer. It's light on flavor and what flavor there is is almost exclusively an artificial watermelon taste. On the plus side, it is exceedingly drinkable and pretty refreshing. Take it or leave it... (951 characters)

Poured into pint glass.

Nice head, but disapated fairly quick. Beer is a transparent golden color. Similar to that of your typical BMC.

Nose is a grainy/barley smell with hints of watermelon thoughout.

Tastes like ripe watermelon. Not really like the red part of the watermelon, but the pinkish white part closer to the crust. I've seen a few other reviews compare it to BMC with hints of watermelon, and I see what they're talking about.

Not a bad brew at all. I'd pick it up again and with the somewhat low ABV this would make a good summer session beer. (560 characters)

Poured from 12oz can into Corsendonk tulip glass.

Appearance: Hazy honey color with a large white head that dissipates quickly and only leaves hints of lace.

Smell: Smells like a watermelon jolly rancher, with hints of malt and yeast.

Taste: Tastes like a typical bitter wheat beer, with watermelon in the background throughout.

Mouthfeel: Watery and smooth, with balanced carbonation. Very refreshing.

Drinkability: A unique twist on wheat beer. Certainly not the best out there, but worth a look. (503 characters)

On draft at home base into a pils glass.

A- pours a hazy golden color. Light white head formation. No bubbling, appears lightly carbonated.

S- I guess I should have had this ahead of the ipa. The smell is very light, with just a hint of watermelon.

T- starts off lightly sweet, with just a hair of watermelon. Gets more bitter and dry mid stream. Finishes with the husky shell of a watermelon, very earthy.

M- Good body to the beer, creamy and thick. Carbonation is present, but not overbearing. Finishes with a sweet film.

D- very drinkable. Abv is manageable. Not filling. Flavors are just a bit off for long sessioning.

Maybe this just isn't my style, as I won't miss having this again. (700 characters)

Nice surprise in my local store today.

Pours a nice almost clear pale yellow color with nice center of rising bubbles to white two finger head that falls rather quick. No lace to speak of.

Aroma is light wheaty malts with what i assume is watermelon along with some nice light hops lightly grassy variety, along with a touch of yeast notes perhaps.

Taste is well its go the crappy american wheat flavor down to a tee but the watermelon touch is nice not over powering seems just right. Some light hops in the finish grassy earthy notes mingle with little twang from the melon. Over all for a style that is usually just crap this one isn't that bad at all.

Mouthfeel is light with normal carbonation levels.

Drinkability is ok not something i would really repeat buy but fruit beers are not my thing but sure wouldn't turn one down on a hot day by the lake or pool. (870 characters)

Poured into a Perfect Pint glass. Formed a thin, fizzy, white head. Lightning fast dissipation of the bubbles left no signs of lacing in it's wake. The body is a crystal clear pale yellow...I was expecting it to be hazy...

Odd nose...but some truth in advertising. You can detect a malted yeast smell, fermented grains and notes of watermelon...maybe a little on the candy-like side.

The flavors are even more odd than the nose. The start is light and wheat-ish that turns into a strange, almost sour taste...imagine water soaked alfalfa. I cannot detect any of the watermelon I was able to smell...maybe it was imagined!

Light mouth feel with moderate carbonation.

I guess this is drinkable, but not my cup o' tea. Worth a try, but I will not be buying this again. (769 characters)
