This is going to one of those reviews where I like the beer much better than the score will show. I liked this beer a lot, but it wasn't typical for the style, in fact there were little in the way of "Quad-like" features about this brew.
Served in tulip. Poured a dark honey-amber color with about a half-inch of white head that had good retention and lacing. A very pretty beer. The aroma was malty-sweet, and didn't have any of the fruit scents expected in the style..
On the tongue, the sweetness was dominant as well, along with a notable alcohol taste. None of the plum, cherry or earthy notes anticipated were present. There was a bit of yeasty spice though.
The body was full, smooth and even, although a bit sticky. Drinkability was pretty good for 12% ABV brew, I could see having a couple. Overall, a very nice brew that's worth your time. Just don't expect the expected from this so-called Quad.

Tried this on tap at the brewery 2 Dec 2009.
Small light brown head, quickly dissipates. Lightly carbonated. Clear chestnut brown with orange highlights. Smells quite sweet, floral, sugary.
Starts with a lot of candy sugar, spicy, nutmeg, cinnamon and caramel. Throught the middle it is fruity, peaches and melon, with some alcohol. Finish is spicy, peppery, warming. Lingering candy sugar aftertaste but not overly sweet.
Medium body. Alcohol is noticeable, warming but not hot.
