Dark red and light purple colors, you usually don't see this in anything other than a wild ale, fruit beer or lambic, cool. Interesting aroma, had a hodgepodge of stuff going on, could have told me this was a belgian strong dark ale and I would have agreed. A little phenolic, dark fruit vibe, but not overly boozy or harsh bitterness.

Taste was like a belgian dubbel. Smooth, but not overly watery or alcoholic despite the fact it is. Brown sugar, mild hop flavors, nothing too heavy, quite the nice surprise. Weird style to put in a can though.

Nose is not big, minty hops, dried fruit, slight alcohol
Brilliant dark mahogany brown under a tan tinted 2" finely bubbled foam cap.
Palate starts malty with dried fruit then gives way to a prominent hop accent and dries out in the finish. Result is well balanced between the malt, fruit, hops and alcohol.
Slightly warming with a medium to medium full body and medium carbonation.

Canned in 2011.

Pours a slightly hazy medium brown with copper highlights and a large, frothy khaki head that slowly dissipates, leaving sticky lacing.

Aroma is laden with dates, figs, prunes, and toffee. Smells very rich.

Flavor reveals green apple, dates, and raisins underlying a lightly toasted, bready caramel malt backbone. Hints of sherry indicate that oxidation may have set in.

Body is a touch full, with fairly low carbonation and moderate alcohol warmth.

The malt backbone is a little lacking for the style, but ester notes are fairly complex. Probably won't age nicely much longer. Metallic notes surface as it warms.
