Had on tap at BBC Cedarville
Appearance: red-brown in color, 1/4 inch head, clear, moderate carbonation
Smell: wood and citrus pine
Taste: tastes a bit like lemon pinesol mixed with cough medicine
Mouthfeel: medium bodied, moderate carbonation, bitter start with a less bitter end
Overall: I really like a lot of this brewery's beers. That said it is odd for me not to finish a beer I get on draft...and unfortunately this one was left behind. This was about as big a medicine taste as I have tasted in a beer. If you like that taste, go for this...Otherwise I will stick with their others like Back in Black.

I had this under the impression that it was an imperial red ale, to be specific, and based my review upon that understanding.
This pours with an intense reddish tint to it. The aroma is sticky pine with lots of malt caramel on it. The flavor comes across as sharply bitter but not in a pleasant way. In fact, the beer itself comes across as sharply bitter, harsh, tacky, and uneven. It’s off-balance throughout, without the sticky sweet dank notes I enjoy in the style. Perhaps if it had some time to rest some of the extremes would balance each other and mellow out a little bit but as I had it, presumably fresh, I did not like this at all.

Served from tap into shaker. Poured ruby red-orange with a one finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount very slowly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, earth, booze, and spice. The flavor was of sweet malt, spice, earth, earth hop, and booze. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew. This one was extremely boozy if I'm honest. Not a lot of balance going on here at all. Just earth and booze. Worth trying if you like to be taken back after each sip, but that's about it.

Pours a clear copper/amber with little to no head. Scent is strong on the lemon and sweet caramel malts, faint notes of roast and citrus. Taste is big, sweet and full of grapefruit and pine. Medium bodied, smooth body. Overall, its good, just a touch to juicy sweet for my palate.

Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – Served a clear medium amber colored brew with a one finger white head. The head has good retention, hanging around for some time to leave a decent level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is overall very light. There are some lighter notes of a sweet dark fruit aroma of cherry as well as some piney hop and grassy aromas.
Taste – The taste starts with a sweeter and maltier taste of bread and caramel. As the taste advances some flavors of a pine and citrus hop flavor work their way into the tongue. These flavors make a base for the brew from there and are quickly joined by a fruit flavor that starts out strong and then fade a bit as the taste advances. With this fruit flavor is a boozy flavor the comes and remains relatively strong. In the end a light dark fruity, and woody flavors which comes to the tongue all together leave a rather odd (don’t know if I like it or hate it) flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the creamier and thicker side with a carbonation level that was rather low. Fairly nice for the bready, boozy and fruit.
Overall - Not a bad brew and one worth a try. Individually the flavors are very nice, but the transitions are not flawless and don’t meld all that well. Still it is one to try if you get the chance.

Not quite sure what the aim of this beer was, but it comes off as a bit too sweet to me, really. Interesting and nice spiced tones, but the overall sweet thing knocks it down quite a bit for me. A nice drinker, but not something that should be beyond a one-off.
