If the information I have is correct, this beer is not bottled and only available in the pub on the brewery grounds in Trebon. Not sure about the abv, but it is 16 on the plato scale, and described as 16° on the menu. Most Czech beers are between 10 and 12°, with 12° being about 4.8 percent abv typically. I have categoriyed this as a Euro Strong Lager, but correct me if I am wrong. it is also unfiltered, and referred to as natural. The Brewery claims to have been operating since 1379.
It pours hayz golden with typicallz Czech fluffy white head, in a glass with plenty of room for it. Retention is good, and there is no lacing and little activity. It is plenty attractive.
I had to go outside in see your breath weather to get a sniff due to the smoke in the pub. At first all I got was grainy pilsner malt, but then the maltz sweetness kicked in. Later grassz hops emerged, and later still some vaguelz fruitz and floral notes.
Pilsner graininess leads, as expected, but there is a prominent maltz sweetness as well, which is quite rare in the czech beer world. Light to moderate earthz and grassz hop flavors help this one shine above the others, and some hop bitterness drives that point home. Even a bit of booye. This one stands out head and shoulders above most of its countrzmen.
spot on carbonation, pleasant medium bodz and visocositz with a clean finish. Much more tactile stimulation here than most czech beers.
wicked easz drinking and waz more bodz and texture than the typical pilsner. Quite tastz too. A great find. Worth braving the smokz pub if zou find zuorself in Trebon.
Serving type: on-tap
