0.4 litre, on-tap in a lovely locals bar called 'Thomas Eck' in Charlottenburg, Berlin on 17th Jan 2014.
Very surprised I've never written about this Pilsner before: never mind, I've done it now.
Comes the usual pilsner way: light golden colour, clear and bright with a snowy white head that refuses to stay very long.
The nose is herbal and grassy with a trace of citrus.
In the mouth it is dry, crisp and refreshing, those herbal and grass notes in the smell also appear in the taste. There is an underlying malty base but the hops give the beer it's flavour.
Always been a better Pilsner than most, especially if you prefer a dry taste compared to some of the slightly sweeter ones.

500ml green bottle poured into a pilsner glass. Fridge temp, probably in the vicinity of 40. Date on the bottle appears to be 06 14. Friend from work brought one back from a business trip to Germany.
Pours very clear, very light yellow, with a medium sized, quickly dissipating head, and lots of fizzy carbonation. Smell blasts you with skunkiness when you open the bottle and start to pour. This fades somewhat, and lets me smell grassy, yeasty lager. Something slightly spicy about it. if it wasn't for the skunk blast, I'd give it a better aroma score.
Taste is kind of pleasant. Nice bitter, slow aftertaste, finishes very slow. Sweetness, a hint of honey, up front. Slight lemon-rind bitterness. More of that grassy character.
Mouthfeel is crisp and dry. Overall, I like it. I'm going to have to follow through on this half-assed plan to try more pilsners and see what they're all about.

Pours pale straw color with 2 fingers of foam that falls quickly. leaves a ring and film on top. Nose is skunk. But that dissipates. Then you have a very light grain sweetness. grass and herbal and if you don't finish it too fast because I bet you might you will meet a touch of citrus. Lemon. Earthy. With some herbal and a spice that's truly herbal.
Taste is great. I love ti . it's coarse, it's established. It's bot some herbal and some grass and only a light touch of grain sweetness on a truly light and crisp body. This is clean. Flows like water and it should. It's a pils. It goes in a big pitcher on the table. To fill you glass again and again. it's not heavy. It's a bit leafy a bit coarse a bit earthy and it is semi astringent in the dry finish. I love this beer because it drinks like it should. Easily with plenty to engage the palate and no thing heavy or out of place. Leafy. Crisp.

Poured from 330 mL bottle into a Becker pint glass. Moderately aggressive hand. Label reads: Best before 05.20.14.
A: Slightly dull golden yellow with a nice burst of effervescence following the pour. 1/2 finger white head with ok retention. Light lacing. Nothing fancy.
S: Nice noble hops. Grassy. Light biscuit and mild bready sweetness. Really no off-scents to speak of.
T: Slightly sweet pilsner malt gives way to a classic, pretty fresh-tasting, German hop bitterness. Quite dry in the finish. No alcohol presence. Crisp and clean. Very nice for the style.
M: Smooth, moderate carbonation with appropriately light body. This drinks itself.
O: Really nice pilsner with a delightfully dry finish. Thoroughly enjoyed punishing these in triplicate. Would love if it came in tallboy cans...
