I've been to Squatters at least 4 times, so it's about time I write a beerfly review of my favorite Utah brewpub.
Located in downtown Salt Lake, Squatters is a converted warehouse-style building on the edge of "trendy resatuarant row." Free parking can be found, but is scarce. Nice, sports-bar influenced atmosphere. Several TVs are sprinkled in key corners. There's a long bar that's nice to sit and eat at if you're by yourself. High, vaulted ceilings make for a very spacious setting. The service is always adequate to good, and there are several, large beer and specials menus visible from the main area. They always have their approximately 5 regular beers on, along with 2-3 seasonals, and one nitro tap and one cask beer (often the Full Suspension). Their seasonals can be quite tasty. Of course, they are limited by the absurd Utah 4% abv law, so there's nothing too extreme/adventurous. But they make nice session beers, and you can order their bottled 6% IPA if you need more alcohol. Food is decent pub fare. The buffalo burger is quite good, as is the fried salmon nuggets with wasabi. Yum. Overall, one of the top beer hangs in SLC. Just wish they were'nt so shackled by the theocratic politicians.

Visited on my first night of two nights staying in downtown SLC; a much needed rest after about 16 days of camping on and off. We actually arrived here during a Mormon holiday but this place was still open for regular hours and quite busy actually. As far as brewpub beer goes the product was above average with clean and fresh flavors. We had some appetizers which were good. Decor was good and the bar was just huge. They also had a nice setup upstairs with a smaller bar and view of the kitchen. Worth a shot for any craft fan and especially those who are into brewpubs specifically. In a land of limited beer opportunities it was nice to see places like this, BeerHive, Uinta and Epic.

Squatters Pub is a nice airy space with soaring ceilings, exposed brick, wooden beams and posts. There are well worn wooden floor and some nice art work and banners (Oktoberfest Banners when I was there).

The long two section bar is on the right, tables to the left. The tanks are behind the front part of the bar, the open kitchen behind the back part of the bar. There is more seating in back plus they have a nice patio.

I counted 12 regular drafts and 6 rotators. I had a couple of drafts and thought they were solid. Bottle selections have more abv, so keep that in mind if you want a bigger beer.

The food was tasty and the menu is definitely a step-up from normal pub grub. I had some tasty carnitas tacos.

Service was friendly and seemed beer savvy.

I enjoyed my visit and I think most BA s will.

This was stop #4 for my wife and I on a 21-day pub-crawl from Michigan to N. CA and OR. This brewery visit was to have dinner and to try their beers. The place is located in an older section of the downtown area in a storefront setting. The restored building is very attractive and inviting, and the 2-story interior was also nicely done. We were seated on the second floor, and this place was rocking for a Wednesday evening.

Because of serving laws in Utah we could only have two beer samples in front of us at any time, so we shared 4 different small glasses and then ordered a couple of their bottled beers just to get a larger serving. Each of the beers that we had was brewed to style, but none had any exciting characteristics. We rated them overall at slightly above a C grade. The food was very good and outshined the beer.

Our experience here was okay, but when we’re in town again we’ll try other places. Who knows, we may end up back here in the future too.

It's funny how a place like this can be kind of typical for a brewpub, but somehow it isn't as bland or boring as Red Rock. At least there is something going on here worth seeing. Unfortunately, they don't have some of the highly rated bottle releases you'd want to see, as those are probably one-offs at this point (529, Fifth Element). However, there are some tasty beers to be had here. Radio From Hell is quite good. As are others. Food here is standard brewpub fair. Nothing really blowing you away here.

Considering the location to the downtown area, this is a no-brainer for a visit.
