Pours murky, surprisingly opaque considering I've had it for over a week without disturbing it. Dull yellow/orange body with a large fluffy white head that recedes gradually, eventually leaving just a ring of foam around the beer. Lacing trickles in strands down the glass.

The smell is super dry and spicy lemon zest, a bit musty. Bitter orange peel and grapefruit. Very citrusy and grassy. Yeast and hops dominate.

The flavor begins with sweet citrus flavors, slightly tart but not sour. This is rounded off with a significant amount of bitterness (for a Belgian ale) and finishes dry and yeasty. Though I'm describing flavors that are easy to pin down...I feel like I can't quite go in depth enough...this beer is extremely unique even by Fantôme standards. I also get unique raw honey-like flavors...as the beer warms...or as I get used to it, I begin to recognize the typical Fantôme flavors.

The carbonation is surprisingly pretty low. It just provides a slight tinge which helps deliver the citrus flavors. Despite the low carbonation it was enough body to keep it from feeling watery.

This is a pretty hard beer to put down. I keep taking sips just to try and figure it out. With the amount of body and complexity, it feels like a big beer, but the ABV is hidden fairly well. Split between friends it could retain its refreshing qualities, but having the 750ml to myself is pretty enjoyable too.

750 ml bottle. Served in a Unibroue tulip, the beer pours a cloudy golden/orange color with about an inch and a half off-white head. Head retention is good, and there's a small amount of lacing. The brew smells like peppery spice, earthiness, oranges, lemon peel, and some hay. It tastes like citrus (oranges, lemons), peppery spice, yeast, earthiness, grass/hay, pears, apples, funk and some bready malt. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and has a good amount of carbonation. I liked this brew a lot, it's yeasty, spicy, fruity and good! I'd like to try this one again in the future. $13.99 a bottle.

Poured into a tall skinny tulip glass. Pours very clear orange, three finger off white head that fades fairly quickly. Smell is lemony, hay, some fruit notes, banana, some orange. Taste starts off with some earthness, nice malt chaicture, Carmel notes, citrus, nice belgian yeast. The carbonation a is good, less than you'd expect from a fantome. Overall I am very impressed, this is different than the others I've had. It almost has the smell of an adjunct beer but has a lot of lemon and some funk. The signature fantome flavor is there but very subdued by the other complexities. I did drink this right out of the cellar, probably would have been crisper out of the fridge.
