In the mood for a saison, hopefully this'll do the trick.

Appearance: Poured from the bottle into my Short's pint glass. The initial pour reveals a clear, amber colored brew (much to my surprise). There's an ample amount of slightly yellowish head, well over two inches worth. Retention is very good, plenty of schtick on the sides of the glass.

Smell: Nice light funk, a little bit of Belgian yeast, a hint of fruit, and a light peppery note. Smells very refreshing.

Taste: Very refreshing. Nice light fruity flavor balanced out with some funky goodness. There's a nice clean peppery finish right at the end. Really a tasty and well-rounded brew.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation is good, but the body is a bit thin.

Overall (Drinkability): This brew hit the spot. Nice flavors that compliment each other, and a very sessionable ABV. I'm very glad I have another bottle of this down in my cellar. Definitely recommend.

Appearance - Hazy, light brown, full off white head, receding to thin ring. Little to no lacing.

Aroma - Saison through and through. Lemon, wheat, horse blanket.

Taste - Smoke, lemon, yeast, orange peel, horse blanket, complex and good.

Mouthfeel - High carbonation, light bodied, dry.

Overall - Surprisingly smoky. Not terrible, it's just not what I was looking for/expecting. It's a classic saison in the other senses. Definitely try it out.

From 750 mL bottle to Mikasa tulip glass

A: The brew appears a color somewhere between apricot and leather, opaque and forms a frothy, cavernous 2-inch head. Patchy lacing is everywhere.

S: Horse-blanket, barnyard funk, right up front, typical of Fantome. Smoky, woody. Grassy snap lingers at the edge of the bouquet, with a smidge of alcohol.

T: Layered and complex, the smokey, funky aspects hold subtle notes of unripe fruit and dry grass. Malty sweetness just barely pushes back strong tones of smoke and leather. A distinct hop snap dries the palate , leading to short, dry finish.

M: Medium-to-full bodies, but ample carbonation adds levity.

Fantome and Jolly Pumpkin are my go-to breweries when I feel like I've drank too many beers. Off-centered style that almost always work.

Pours slightly hazy copper with a two finger white head. Smell is bready, funky, nutty, some sweet spice. Taste is smoky, some dark fruit, funk, slight citrus, some roasty and nutty flavors, bready . Consistency is full of carbonation, really nice. Overall this was pretty good.the first sip isn't awesome but once your palate is primed, it's a nice take on a season.

750ml bottle poured into a tulip glass. Notched freshness date of October 2013, consumed August 2013.

A: Burnt sienna in color. Surprising clarity, but this was poured with care taken not to rouse the yeast. Two fingers of cream colored head retain very well. Thin, foamy rings of lacing.

S: Caramel and toffee, bread crust, and perhaps even a whiff of iced coffee with sugar and cream. Tart and slightly acidic, aromas of macintosh apple and peach. Black peppercorns. Earthy and dirty yeast.

T: Red apple skin and peach tartness. Orange peel. Moderately acidic. Lots of malt coming through with tastes of mild coffee roast, bread crust, dark caramel, and toffee. Dirty, earthy yeast. Black pepper comes out in a very quick, dry finish, along with peach tartness and vanishing caramel malt flavors.

M: Light bodied. Carbonation is ample but soft on the palate. A notch or two above watery, the body is fleshed out just enough to make it work.

O: It sort of comes across as a rustic saison meets English mild, the way the malts come through. It took a little while for the black pepper to come through, but it fits nicely enough. Not a lot of complexity, and not the most memorable thing Fantome has brewed, but it's very easy to knock back.

Poured from bottle into globe/wine glass at the gnarly barley in Orlando, FL. Amazing pour..burnt orange color with about 2 fingers of head. Classic amazing fantome funk atoma but somewhat muted with hints of spices. Taste is again classic fantome barnyard but again a bit more muted than usual...lots of peppery notes and a hint of citrus. Its thick but light...its got a good feel to it for being so light in abv. Really another fantastic brew from fantome. I absolutely love everything Danny bottles. Thanks for brewing Danny!

a deep copper / amber pour with 3 fingers of beige colored head which diminished slowly.. not much lacing left behind. aromas of wheat, caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, and slight oxidation. the flavor is spot on for a belgian dubbel.. with a slightly farmhouse funk to it.. pepper, banana, cloves, candy sugar, farmhouse yeast leaving behind a wet paper/hay flavor in the finish which only makes you want more sips to try and get rid of it, and by the time you realize what you're quenching, it's actually that weird flavor!
medium body with high carbonation, drinks fairly nice.

this is a surprise - didn't really know what to expect and wasn't let down. not as funky as i had hoped, but a pretty solid beer nonetheless.. not like most saisons i've had either.. more on the darker belgian ale side.. which i guess makes sense with the name being dark white.
