Poured from the corked 750 ml bottle into a beveled English style pint glass. This is the 'newer' vintage without the sumo wrestler on the bottle. It has been in my cellar, but it's not so old. 2008?

Appearance- The beer pours spritzy looking, orange and lightly hazy, loads of carbonation on the sides, but nearly no carbonation in the head. A mere finger of foam on the sides that doesn't stick around at all. Lacing is there, but not all that substantial.

Smell- Smells like Fantome! Sweet light German malts and that funky Fantome yeast that I love so well. An almost buttery sweetness, much like cream of wheat flavored with sugar or honey. A very unique smell for a very unique beer, the butter is not a diacetyl smell.

Taste- A sprite soda carbonation flavor and tangy funk rip apart the entire mouth making for a sour evening that I can't complain about. May be a bad idea for pre-steak dining, but I don't regret it. There's another flavor that I can't quite put my finger on that is somewhat reminiscent of wild onion greens, but for some reason that seems completely wrong. Perhaps I'll pinpoint what it was later and far too late for the review.

Mouthfeel- This has one of the most excellent tart spritzy mouthfeels on any beer I've ever had. I'll drink this again just to regain the mouth feeling that I'm getting from this fine brew, along with the fact that it has a lot of German and Belgian aspects combined with almost a Czech pilsner sweetness. Highly carbonated, medium light bodied.

Drinkability- Another great plus to this beer is that it doesn't taste a thing like 8%. It would be great for summer sipping on the porch with friends, which is what I will do with the other older bottle, and perhaps another new bottle if I can muster it.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Reviewed from notes.

Appearance - Hazy light golden body. Well retained big white head.

Smell - Pale malts with a light acidity and floral character. Bretty? If it's brett, it's very mild.

Taste - Much brettier. Light tartness. Pale malts again, but much spicier. Dry in the finish with a slight sweet kick.

Mouthfeel - Light bodied and dry. Well carbonated.

Overall - I'd never peg it as dandelion, but the flavor is very nice.

Buddy of mine from Wavre introduced this to me. Kinda like eating dandelions in a salad for the first time. First sip was WTF. Second sip was kinda interesting. Third sip had me hooked. Sharp, tart, and tastes like Spring in Belgium. This can make Saison DuPont or any other mainstream Belgian farmhouse ale its bitch.
