From a 750 ml bottle to a tulip. Reviewed from notes dated October 18, 2014.

A-The brew is a darker, honey-like color. It is murky too. The head is almost two fingers tall to start and a drops slowly after about two minutes. No lacing left behind. The foam is off-white.

S-This is an odd, but strangely appealing scent. I get grassy, leafy aromas (like dandelions), with hints of lemon, white peppercorn, and medicinal alcohol. Pair that leafy flavor with must white grape and tart plum and you have this beer. It is weird but it works for me.

T-The taste is similar. I get some lightly tangy fruit like plum at first, but the mild sweetness fades quickly and the finish dries out to expose grassy, mildly bitter, leafy, peppery flavors. The finish is long and complex.

M-The feel is medium in heft with a moderately crisp carbonation that is easy to drink.

O-This is an odd one, for sure, but I mostly like it. The dry, leafy, bitter flavors actually seem to pair up well with the oddly fruity flavors that I taste. If it really is made with dandelion, I would believe it.

I purchased this in Brussels, enjoyed chilld in a tulip shared with tenderbranson69.

The color is deep amber with subtle hazed appearance and light colored head with fine bead and good retention. The smell has a strong yeast ester that is fruity with some floral aroma and gentle malt with earthy scent and light caramel element. The feel has a slight tangy yeast and moderately high carbonation level with subtle creamy yeast texture and semi-sweet body with a light floral resinous texture with mild earthy tannin and semi-dry and warming quality in the finish.

The taste brings malt and slight yeast tanginess up front with mild medicinal edge from dandelion and subtle caramel in the malt with spicy and hint of woody accents mid palate with a somewhat tangy yeast flavor which is almost apricot with slight acidity that continues with a mild woody pungent and toasted flavor mixed with light citrus and malt balance that continues into a semi-dry finish. The impression is a very good saison while not the absolute best it is better than most with a fantome house character and the interesting dandelion addition as an extra

a really weird beer, wine-like in its yeast complexion with even a little wild yeast funk in there too. fantome always has awesome yeast in their beers, this one is weird and new to me, tart but really full bodied and quite dry. the beer is a darker copper color, heady and hazy with a ton of sediment at the bottom of the bottle. the head never settles at all staying thick and cloud-like. the nose is sharp, spicy from the yeast, and with a distinct floral bitterness. not hoppy, but bitter like greens. there is a definitive dandelion head flavor in the finish of this beer, and ive heard mixed things that it is in fact brewed with dandelions, and that it is not. if i had to guess id say it must be, because it really does taste like them. spring time is in this beer, but its super bitter too, almost like the dandelion greens are used in the place of hops for bittering. its mildly astringent and really full bodied and frothy in the feel, but there is an acidity too. carbonation is great, white wine tannins show up in the finish, with the flowers and the bitterness. its really weird, but i like that weirdness in fantome beers, and thats why i keep buying them when i see them. enjoyable, but one time only. i wouldnt pick this up again.
