750ml bottle, best before end "November 2016," ordered from belgiuminabox.com. Pours hazy, golden in color, capped with plenty of foam. Excellent head retention and lace formation. Aroma is shockingly good and very fruit-forward. First there's a bit of chalky yeast and musty, Brett-like funk, but then a strong presence of ripe fruit shows up. Peach, mango, pineapple... Tropical fruit notes I've only ever smelled in IPAs before.
Flavor profile is moderately dry but far from bone dry. Sweetness picks up midway through, then bitterness is more prevalent all the way to the finish. A little bit of yeasty phenols and leather, but the fruity esters star. Ripe red apple, golden raisin, peach, and apricot. Carbonation is abundant but almost pillowy soft.
If you get a good bottle, then Fantome is indeed as amazing as many reviews indicate. Exceedingly good, with no weak points.
