2014 batch poured into a LA tulip. Stoked for this one!

A: Murky/muddy ruby body with only the faintest amount of head appearing after a vigorous pour. Essentially flat, but oddly enough the dark body coupled with the stillness is pleasing to the eye in a way.

S: Tart cherry, orange zest, and red wine upfront layered with signature Fantome funk. A touch of raspberry, floral honey, and alcohol. Very vinous and complex.

T: More tart cherry, pineapple, and granny smith apple. Lingering red wine character in the taste as well. A sweeter than usual backbone props everything up. Despite the underattenuation still a pretty fantastic tasting beer.

M: Medium bodied and flat, with a slick feel on the palate. Slight acidity lingers and coats the palate. Not necessarily bad, but a little carb would have done this beer wonders.

O: Pretty amazing aroma and taste, but the appearance and mouthfeel leave some room for improvement. Had heard rumors of the lack of carb and underattenuation of this batch but went for it anyways. Vaguely reminiscent of a less lactic and uncarbonated flanders red. Would love to try this with some C02 and hope the second bottle carbonates after some time in the cellar.

750ml neon orange labeled bottle poured into a matching fantome tulip. The brew appears a hazy color of orange cream-sickle with a frothy white creamy topping. Some patchy lace sticks to the glass. When held to the light, it has a beautiful clarity that appears golden to orange which is so strange because from afar it looks quite clouded.

The aroma is quite fruity with a zesty essence caught between something like grapefruit and/or orange juice. There is an earthiness smelling somewhat like cork and a hint of must in that classic fantome sort of way.

The flavor is quite tart and zesty a little hint of grapefruit-like bitterness with a fruity zest quality like oranges, lemons and limes. A bit of juicy pulp and cork-like earthiness with a straw-like grain quality and a hint of cracked pepper.

This is a light bodied brew with a modest level of carbonation. It is very dry, clean and easy drinking. The best way I can describe this is take a great bottle of the classic fantome saison but instead of pineapple/strawberry this is more like orange/lemon/lime. Really fantastic stuff.
