Guldenberg is a tripel-style abbey ale containing 8.5% vol. Alc. Its colour is blond and it’s made of pale malt with the addition of candy sugar. The bitterness comes from the Hallertau hops we use as bitterhop and as aromahop. On top of that we use dry – hopping techniques with the same hops which give the ale its unique flavour and aroma and its perfect balance between sweet and bitter. The name came from the former Guldenberg Abbey in Wevelgem, the village of birth of Nino, one of the brewers. According to data in Flandria Illustrata ale was brewed here in the past.

Hazy brownish orange appearance, decent head that replenishes adequately but doesn't build much height. Laces very nicely. Aroma is fresh, candied cherry, orange slices in sugar, some alcoholic "cocktail" sense. Starts out well, balanced, bitters counter a doughy fruitcake flavor profile. Mouthfeel is medium, carbonation follows suit. Ends a little less satisfying, a little plastic and phenolic with a slightly seltzery diminished quality. Some bit of alcoholic warmth and prunes to the aftertaste and a little less dry than I expect in a Tripel's finish. Stands pretty well on its own merits, with a good start to the flavor impression.

Hazy and cloudy with an orange color.
Aroma of white grapes, fruit and mango.
Taste was sweet, but had a tart fruit flavor with light hops.
Medium body and medium carbonation.
Smooth and alcohol was well hidden.

I had this on draft 3/9/23 @ the Hopleaf.
Opaque orange appearance.
Small eggshell head; strong lacing remained.
Banana, orange peel & faint clove notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Banana & orange peel flavors up front; mild clove notes on the finish.
Solid traditional tripel.

Purchased from Hopheads in Altona, Australia, in November 2021. Drunk in June 2022.
Appearance: Golden yellow-orange. Bright white, thin head. Half a finger head on the edge of the glass, leaving some nice lace on the way down.
Nose: Not sure what's going on here - the overwhelming impression is freshly opened texta (or sharpie, for the Americans out there). There are also lemon alcoholic heat and Belgian yeasty characters.
Taste: There's Belgian yeast, wood, spices, bubblegum, vanilla, anise and lemon, but underpinning everything is an unmistakable hint of petrol.
Mouth: Smooth and creamy, with a long, sweet finish.
Overall: The texta and petrol say unhappy yeast to me. Unsurprisingly, that flavour profile significantly detracted from the overall experience. I've certainly had better, more style-focused tripels.
Cheers!

330 ml bottle (I also have a 750 ml bottle of this one), from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 8%. Hazy brownish golden coour, moderate white head. Nice aroma and flavour of spicy Belgian ale yeast, white kandij sugar syrup and herbal hops. Moderate but fairly distinct bitterness.

Poured from 330mL bottle into my BeerAdvocate teku. Best by 4/11/23.
Appearance: rich golden hue with a little bit of haze and a couple little floaties from the lees. Head is three fingers of frothy ivory foam, leaving a nice lace on the glass. Love it!
Smell: sweet malt with a wonderful pear character. There's also a bit of a floral undertone that lends a little bit of a soapy quality, but still, I quite like it.
Taste: sweet malt and slightly soapy pears, just like the aroma! I like this beer, but it is just a bit on the sweet side, even for a tripel. The finish has a solid bitterness, but it builds over time and is never too much due to the sweetness. I appreciate this beer's floral weird-itude, and I always love the pear character in a tripel.
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a huge carbonation and a wonderfully silky smooth creamy texture. This is what I was hoping for when I saw those three fingers of head! The sweetness is a bit much in the flavor but it pays off in the texture! Really excellent.
Overall: I am a huge fan of tripels, and I had been meaning to try this particular beer for a long time. Perhaps it's not my favorite tripel in the world, but it is totally solid and has a lot going for it, especially in the mouthfeel department.

Medium frothy, off-white head and lots of small bubbles. Medium dark golden orange, with some translucency to the look. Very lightly spiced, medium caramelized malt aroma. Slight bite to start off the taste, which is an off-dry tinge of spice to a medium caramelized malt flavor.

A tripel-style ale from Belgium. 8.5%. A little drier than most abbey styles I prefer, with some bitter / hoppy notes. Think white head and cloudy golden tone (it is unfiltered).

750ml bottle, wrapped in a blue and white paper, served in a pair of snulips.
Pours a hazy light amber with a big fluffy head that fades to a clumpy layer with a thick ring. Smell is carbonation and yeast, maybe a hint of banana and clove.
Taste is surprisingly bitter and almost savory. Banana is there, heavy spicy bitterness, yeasty almost breadiness. There's something in this that I can't quite identify, maybe a gamy fruit like jackfruit or something.
Mouthfeel is thick and fluffy. Overall, I'm not 100% sure what to think. I enjoy this beer, and a lot of the flavor profile seems in line with what I expect from tripels, but the proportions are very unusual. It's very interesting and I think it'll grow on me as I drink it and it warms up a little more.

Poured from fridge temp into a Duvel glass. Pours a murky orange with white head. Definitely a good amount of sediment in the glass, so don't pour the entire thing out! Nose is lemon, wheat, grass, yeast, plums, and a bit of tart-funk. The taste is fantastic. A nice balance of sweet and bitter. Candy, yeast, wheat, tropical fruit, earthy notes, biscuits, and definitely a floral note. Mouthfeel is light and crisp, with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

750 ml bottle into a tulip snifter. Believe bottled in 2018, had 11/18/19.
Pours a bright yellow gold, clear on first pour, a little cloudy after, with a one and a half inch foamy head and lots of foamy lacing. Active carbonation. Aromas of Belgian yeast, some wheat, some white grapes, biscuit, herbal/floral hops, light malt, a little funk, black pepper as it warms. Has a sweet aroma. Flavors of Belgian yeast, light wheat and malt, herbal/floral hops that are bitter at the open but fade through the bottle, some sweetness from the candi sugar. Smooth, fairly refreshing, a good light to medium body, well carbonated on the high side.
Looking at a number of the reviews below mine, I guess this one just wasn’t for me. Found it uninspired and simple for a Tripel that then added hops to bitter it up. Very good aroma, at least.
