Densely-packed, pint-sized tavern towards the downtown area off the main strip. Typical Irish pub atmosphere. Average selection; nothing spectacular with a younger crowd. Hospitable and friendly service. A decent place to stop in and grab a few drinks if you're in the area. Reasonably priced, fast, and friendly. Didn't try the grub but the menu looked decent. There are quite a few bars in the vicinity this appears to be a staple among locals. Wasn't impressed but the place serves its purpose.

This is not a beer bar. It's a stereotypical Irish pub with a lot of macros on tap, and a few beers that could loosely be termed "local" craft beers (Saranac, Ubu).
The atmosphere is OK, but it can get loud and crowded. Fine if you're in the mood for that type of thing, but this generally isn't the place to go if you just want a pint and quiet conversation.
Service was friendly, but average (no beer knowledge, for example). Food was very, very average (pub grub), but in large portions. Prices seem about average or maybe just slightly higher than average for the area. All in all it's not a bad place, but it shouldn't be a destination for beer geeks.

A traditional (Americanized) Irish pub that has the best beer selection in Saratoga Springs, at least. This bar has the best selection for the surrounding area, which isn't saying much, but it is a start.
Lots of drunks from the races, not that I am complaining, just be prepared for it.
Pretty classic pub food, fish and chips, bangers and mash, a variety of burgers. Had a Buffalo Burger, which was a little undercooked but tasted great. Nice big portions.
Server was totally uninformed on the beer selection. Lots of American macros in addition to the usual Guinness, Harp etc. Some "local" brews, Ubu from Lake Placid, Davidson, Saranac Ale and Seasonal. Nothing too exciting, but it beats anywhere else in town.
Be warned, it is not upscale. Plenty of people go for the inexpensive macro brews and cheap large portions. But that being said, it was a good time and the Ubu was tasty. They do have a large selection of well known beer.

Okay, where to begin. This is NOT a beer bar. This is a "traditional" oirish pub. Lots of oirish stuff on the walls and a pub fare menu.
Beers on tap will be your traditional Guinness, Boddingtons, Harp etc..as well as your American Macros. As far as American micros go its pretty bleak...we're talking Lake Placid Ubu, which is the pick of the litter and a bunch of other random stuff that is not exciting.
Personally, I like the place for what it is. However, it is, like I said, NOT a beer bar. Its an Irish pub that appeals to beer drinkers that think that Michelob Amber Bock is a micro.
Being fair, the waitress I had was amazing and very attentive and the other people at the bar were very friendly.
Basically I am just throwing down the warning signs for those expecting this place to be an upscale beer bar, cuz it ain't.

Stopped off here for lunch on the way to the races.
Found out about this place as a beer destination on BeerAdvocate.
They certainly have a lot of tap lines, but of those, I didn't really find anything that intrigued me. They had many macros available; and of the micro/craft beers, most were readily available at other locations.
I'll give them a compliment for variety in terms of Quantity, but not Quality of selection. I suspect they're on the border of not qualifying for beeradvocate guidelines as being listed on this site.
Food ... had a burger, it was good ... reasonably priced!

Have been going to the Parting Glass for years now, I would say that we usually get up there about twice a year now. At one time when we would go to Saratoga more often it would be the place we would always end up at. The place has not changed much over the years. Bar up front with a number of tables where you can get good pub fare. The room back from the entrance is where they will have the many music acts performing, we have caught a number of shows with the Mckrells and Hair if the Dog over the years. If your looking at the stage you will see a door way to your right and that will open up to another good sized room, this is the area that we would go the most. I would say that they must have about 15 dartboards there along with another large bar. This bar has a good number of beers on tap, although a few are for BMC products but you will always find some nice brews. Behind the bar they have a number of coolers where they have a wide selection of beer, not as wide as I seem to remember but definitely will have something that you would enjoy. Over all I feel that this is the best bar in Saratoga based on what I like, some of my friends would disagree but they are not into good and different beer like I am. If you in the area this place is worth the stop and if you like good music along with good pub fare and beer it is the place to go to.

The Parting Glass is a great not-so-little pub in Saratoga Springs. The front room has a nice and cozy feel to it and the palce just keeps on going and going.
The beer selection is pretty good. It used to be much, much better, but they cut back for some reason a few years back. You used to be able to choose from hundreds of bottles from around the world and they even had an around the world club with a beer passport. Nevertheless, there is still a good selection of local stuff.
The food is good, a step above typical pub fare. Come in some morning and try the traditional Irish breakfast.
Service has always been great. This place can be packed sometimes, especially when they haver a band on the weekends. If you can handle the crowds, come here on St Patty's day.

Stopped in for a lunch break this past Saturday afternoon with my wife while on a walking tour of Saratoga Springs. This was our first visit to this Irish Pub/Restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised to find a good selection of regional micros on tap.Real pints and reasonablypriced. Kevin the bartender was very helpful in making choices of brews to enjoy with a very tasty Angus burger with Irish Fries.Burger and fries were done to perfection!Definitely deserves a repeat visit on my next trip to town.

I gotta say I liked the vibe in this place. Just very relaxing and mellow. Lots of wood--somewhat standard irish pub feel to it. A little divey--but in a good way. I did try to go one other time and it was packed so I didnt stay but when I went last Friday 08-11-06 it was great.
As far as beers go, the selection was fairly standard. They did have Hacker-Pschorr hefeweisse and some beer from Adirondack brewing as far as selection of beers that arent quite as common. I tried the Adirondeck beer and it was like a stick of butter. I decided to have Yuengling since they dont have them in Boston and I didnt want anything too strong.
The bartender was friendly and attentive. We got some munchies like calamari and jalapeno poppers. They were decent. The pricing was reasonable. A nice bar. I will try to go back in a couple weeks when I am back in Saratoga again.

Some of the reviews here have mentioned that this place can get crowded during the summer (track/tourist season) and that is true, however popping into this place off-season, preferably in the afternoon, is almost a requisite for me when I am in town.
The atmosphere of the place is warm and relaxing....nice booths with tall backs, or regular tables are both available. The service is average and the food is slightly above average. Bear in mind that I have been living in Boston for 5 years so my judgement my be tainted somewhat; for Saratoga Springs, the food is quite good, and you wont find a better beer selection anywhere.
The tap selection is usually nice, but I have had some beers that tasted a bit old and perhaps had been sitting in the lines for a while...for some reason I always stick to the bottles. They have a decent selection of some american micros, and some belgians....although the last time I was there the corked belgian bottles were unavailable as they were locked up in the basement and no one there that day had a key! (this last fact inexplicably just makes the place more endearing to me!)
