11/30...pours cloudy dark bronze, creamy white foam thick and clingy. Light soft pine nose. Soft malt taste, light rind, grapefruit, pine taste, Subtle hop bitter that stays smooth and never strays.

12 oz bottle stil had a thin coat of sediment on the bottom after a full pour. Th lightly hazy, golden-amber body wa topped by a very good off-white head that left decent lacing. Plenty of fruity-herbal hoppy aroma, and nearly as much in tasting. Still, with a light body that is noticeably light for an IPA, this drinks like the session IPA it is. Recommended as such, or as a hoppy APA.

Bottled 5/21/14, I really need to start checking dates before I buy beer. Hopefully this isn't too off.

Pours a decent fizzy bubbly head that hits 1/2 a finger but fades pretty quickly, very little lacing, mostly clear but sediment laden apricot orange color.

Nose has a mild aged hop unfortunately but not a lot, some decent floral grassy hops, pretty fruity and a little citrus, juicy hops, with a faint malty backbone.

Taste brings a sweet malt, almost sugar water like flavor, and some light caramel and golden malt flavors, but a bit watery. Then hops, nice hops though, juicy fruity hops, a little citrus, a mild grassy note and flora note, that turn a little earthy and woodsy as it warms, decent bitterness but juicy and sessionable as hell. Finish is dry and clean, a little watery again, decent bitterness, little fruity hop, but ends pretty quickly.

Mouth is med to lighter bod, little watery, lots of carbonation.

It seems like it used to be a bit more sweet, which I wouldn't have liked as much, so that turned into extra carbonation, but it's still watery somehow, which is the biggest draw back. The nice hops are actually pretty good, not as aged as I expected. Still enjoyable and very sessionable, like drinking a tasty water.

Pretty light IPA. Very well balanced and a good flavor of fruity and citrusy hops. I enjoy this very much in the summer.

ABV comparable to Bud Light. Nice starter beer for those who want to get into craft but are worried about alcohol content.

12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours out a hazed, light coppery body with a near white head, small in stature.

Smell: Bready pale malts with a bit of sugar and spice. Lightly floral, melon-scented hops with a sliver of fresh, glistening herb.

Taste: The Extended Play India-Style Session Ale kicks off with pale malts housing a bready quality and restrained sweetness. Floral, fruity hops with a little green herbal hint. Subtly bitter. Remains a bit bready for the softly bittersweet, smooth finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: Agreeably decent and would have no reservations about having another.

Slightly hazy light amber beer that wields a graded foam cap of translucent white.

Thin citrusy and fruity hoppiness with a sessionable balance with the malts. Quite bright, and a little sweet, with orchard fruits and chamomile and faint tropicalia. Enjoyable, but thin, nonetheless.

Hop tea bitterness with steeped humulus over brittle ale construction. Very thin in malts, now. Pale and washed out. Hops rise above, as they damn well should, but there's little else going on other than some faint grassiness. Crunchy bitterness seems perky, but remains moderate in magnitude. It opens with a burst. Flavors delving into tangerine, peach, orange blossom, white tea, and faint piney woodiness. Such an easy drink. The flavors are really easy, but really good. This is indicative of what it's supposed to be, and I'm almost sold on the session IPA concept. As per Extended Play, the mouthfeel is light and refreshing. Overall, pretty solid. No discernible alcohol, nice chunky carbonation. I like it.

Pours a hazy, golden color. 1/2 inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of earthy malt, sweet malt, citrus hops, floral notes, and slight alcohol. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, hops, citrus, hint of floral, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, good appearance, decent aroma, but weak body and complexity.

Not at all impressed, and baffled that this beer is deemed an IPA. It's a pale ale, and a weak one at that. At approximately 4% potency, and hardly any hop to note, I wouldn't recommend this beer to anyone. Inflated price tag on a poor beer was a double whammy.

this one is a little late to the session ipa party, which has been full swing since early spring. to me, its dumbed down a bit too much, not as fun and brightly hopped as the best in the genre, and it gets lost a bit next to beers like easy jack, all day, daytime, and the like. boring pale malt base and just not enough hops to get me to where this seems anything like an ipa. its just not bold enough. i do appreciate its drinkability, decent carbonation, and clean finish, and think its fine summer ale. but to call this an ipa, and put it out as an answer to some of those previously mentioned is a fools errand. not bad, just not up to the high bar thats already been set. may work in markets where those others are unavailable, or for those seeking a less hop forward session beer.

Pours a mildly fogged amber. Great flavor profile. Kind of a pine and resin thing. Kind of an earthy aftertaste going on. Fairly clean overall though. I could deal with more punch from flavor, but as it is I am appreciating it. A good sessional ale that provides a great character.

Served in a tumbler at Mundelein Brewfest 2014.

Heading over to Lakefront's station to try out their new-ish "session IPA". It pours a clear pale-ish brass topped by a finger or so of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises flowers, mild grass, light pine needle, light grapefruit rind, and a kiss or two of honey. The taste brings in more of the same, the honey coming through stronger than before, though it's still a definite second fiddle to everything else. The body is a hefty light, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, a nice "session IPA", something I could see drinking again, though it's not exciting enough for me to demand one.

Poured with a nice head that soon settled. Good clear amber color. Hoppy malty aroma that is true to style. Good palate. Flavor is good except for hint of solvent. Finishes like flavor in the solvent thing is still there. This one's a bit warm and that probably accounts for a bit of this.

poured 12oz bottle into snifter glass

A - Pours a light sun color with a slight hue of peach. Nice 2 finger white bubbly head and some lacing..

S - Light citrus and floral hops, with a bit of malt a sweetness to it. Maybe some pine hops.

T - Some floral and pine, citrus hop juice, with some malt and sweetness to it.

M - Light-medium bodied with moderate-high carbonation. Easy drinking and refreshing.

O - It is a session IPA. These seem to bore me, but it wasn't bad. I should just stick to APAs.

A - Yellow with a little green. I could care less about appearance, so unless it's really beautiful or really ugly, it will get the average of the other ratings. Who drinks a beer for appearance anyway?

S - Nice smell. A lot of citrus and pine.

T - Strong citrus and pine in the taste as well, but also strong lemon and bit grassy and astringent. My main knock on this beer.

M - A little too light for the grassy bitterness.

O - The regular Lakefront IPA is not as hop forward, but seems to balance out a lot more. Not sure where the lemon and grassiness is coming from, but if they could get rid that, it would probably be better than the regular Lakefront IPA because there are a lot of hops in this beer and a lot of good hop flavor. They use Citra so I'm not sure why I'm tasting more pine than fruit as well as where the lemon and grassiness is coming from. Maybe they used a yeast that is more suited for a higher ABV beer with more body and it gave too much lemon flavor (Conan can do that in lower ABV beers which makes me think they might have used a similar yeast.)

A. Slightly hazy. Dark straw appearance with a white two finger head.

S. Grain, dank pine hops, herbal pepper, hint of soapiness.

T. Nice interplay of bready grain and piney hops. Refreshing with just the right amount of lingering bitterness on the finish.

M. Actually has more body than one would expect for such a low ABV beer with a decent mouthfeel to boot.

O. This may be the best "session style" IPA I've tasted to date. This beer actually has more flavor than a lot of higher ABV IPA's on the market. If my choice is All Day, DayTime or Extended Play I would choose Extended Play without hesitation. I need to keep this on hand this summer. Well done.

Bottled on 04/22/14:

Pours slightly hazed golden with a foamy/creamy off-white head that stays around. Rings of lacing stick.

The smell is very robust - citrus and pine.

Tastes like a rich, hoppy, citrusy/grapefruity, piney/resinous, IPA with a balancing sweetness in the middle from a firm malty backbone. Finishes with a refreshing bitter dryness.

The feel is lighter for an IPA, as expected with more "sessionable" character and abv level. Refreshing.

This is a rich/robust IPA for a lower alcohol brew. Very easy to drink. Very hoppy, with a refreshing bitterness. An outstanding "session" IPA to say the least!

This pours a hazy, amber yellow color with a slight white head. The aroma is fairly strong with hops. The taste is decently bitter but yet smooth and well-balanced. Hops tease the taste buds without being too strong and leaves grassy, grain after taste. Glad to see Lakefront beer taste have improved a lot since I first tried it in 2008.

Pours a soapy, white, resiny head that laces readily. A bright citrus/floral hop aroma that becomes quite pinelike as the head collapses. Bright golden-amber color with hazy hop bits floating around. Starts with a nice citrus hop bitterness. Builds into a medium-high bitterness. A massive wave of malt overpowers everything. Lingering citrus rind in the finish.

I like this one alot. Great hop flavor, and a surprisingly awesome malt backbone to it all. Not only an excellent session IPA, but one of the best IPA's I've had.
