The nose jumps out first, as I can smell a fresh pot of coffee as I'm pouring this one into a snifter. There is some nice roast qualities from the malts as well.
It pours dark, black center with dark brown shades of mahogany on the outside where the light is able to penetrate.
The aftertaste is sour on the sides of the palate. It's a shame because this one was showing all the signs of being a great dry stout. I'm disappointed. There's a great roasty bite on the front of the tongue, and then the aftertaste ruins it. I'm having trouble getting anything else out of the taste, as the finish is overwhelming to the rest of the experience.
Mouthfeel is medium body with a syrupy coat over the tongue from the sour finish.
My hopes got dashed on this one. I'd give it another try in the future to see if the taste was from some type of oxidation, but I think this just isn't my cup of stout.
