12 oz bottle into a teku.

Appearance: Pours a very dark brown color. The head is two fingers high and off-white in shade. Retention is pretty good, with a nice texture all around. Some lacing sticks to the glass. (3.25)

Smell: Brown sugar is the predominant note, followed by some chocolate and toasted bread. A little bit of noble hops also appear, along with some smoke (!) It smells like it will be well balanced between the sweetness and bitterness, and that's what I want from a dark lager. (3.5)

Taste: It seems slightly smoky for the style - luckily, it's a pleasant smoke. There's also some initial brown sugar sweetness to pair with the smoke notes. A mild hoppiness finishes it off. Pretty solid. (3.25)

Mouthfeel: Very light and dry, yet with a slight lingering sweetness post-swallow. Carbonation is assertive. Only thing I don't like is that the general feel bulks up as more is consumed - otherwise, it drinks well. (3.25)

Overall: I mean, it's a straightforward dark lager. It's nothing exciting; but it's easy to drink, and will be fantastic with Mexican food. It's not a stout, it's not trying to be, and I don't care. I like it, and I'd drink it again. (3.5)

3.36/5: Now, if only I had some tacos to drink this with...

Pours brown from the bottle with a hint of red. A little bit of a mocha head that leaves after a bit. The aroma is fairly straightforward: bready malts, some toffee and molasses. It tastes exactly like it smells - brown bread, molasses with just a hint of sweetness. Medium mouth. This tastes exactly like a dunkel should taste. It's well-made and very enjoyable.

Nice roasty, semi-sweet smell with a kiss of bitterness. Medium body with a dark delicious taste. Medium bodied and smooth with pleasant effervesence.

poured 12oz bottle into Imperial Pint glass.

A Dark red/brown with a big 3 finger sand colored head on an aggressive pour. Retention is terrific and the lacing is superb coating the glass.

S - Roasted malts, dark bread, molasses and a light sweet scent with just a hint of bitterness.

T - Light and roasty with a big dark bread and malty flavor. A light sweet molasses with a touch of earthy hops.

M - Medium body with great carbonation and a smooth feel.

O - A nice local Dark Dunkel that is well made and pleasant to drink.
