i found their riverwest to be old school in a way thats kind of dated, but i found this house ipa to be old school in an endearing and timeless way, plenty bitter, northwestern, and with some lovely richness in color and depth from some more robust barley malt than in in vogue today, i appreciated this one, even if it belongs to a dying breed. copper to darker rust colored brew with a solid inch of lasting white head from the can, looks frothy and bubbly, pretty beer. the aroma is strongly piney with some familiar citrus in the mix, could be simcoe casting grapefruit, citra throwing strong meyer lemon, but with the pine element and almost forest woodiness, this has a nice back and forth, maybe not amazingly fresh when i had it, but its a nice profile. the malt is fuller, toasted, only slightly sweet, and this is well balanced without being heavy. the flavor is pungent because the bitterness starts early, some spiciness riding the bitter, cascade or centennial or some other high alpha c types most certainly in play, oily and dank, but clean on the finish, bitter for awhile on the palate, green in a good way not a harsh way, and slightly sticky. the grain is less sweet than it smells, baked and warming but not dense or lasting, and its great with these bold hops. clean and invisible ferment, bigger medium body, and with quite a hop bite on the back end, darn tasty. they way ipa used to taste, and while maybe this isnt epic overall, it reminds me of a time when beers like this were more common and hazy stuff didnt dominate yet. ah the good old days!

Appearance: Pours a clear, deep orange color with a moderate white head. SRM of 12-15. (4.00)
Aroma: Moderate aromas of resinous grapefruit, tangerine, pine. (3.75)
Flavor: Flavors follow with moderate orange, tangerine, resinous pine with a moderate bitterness. Moderate to heavier bitterness. Finishes fairly dry. (4.00)
Feel: Lighter to medium-bodied. Appropriate carbonation. Finish is somewhat crisp and dry. (4.00)
Compared to Raised Grain Naked Threesome 2/2023: Pours darker, similar head. Stronger aromas. More floral citrus, lemon, pine. Less sweet blood orange and nectarine. Dryer and more bitter.
Overall: A nice and crisp IPA. Pretty standard stuff here. Grapefruit, tangerine, pine. Clean and drinkable for the ABV. Very enjoyable. (Rating: 3.77+ but could improve, I have 3 more to try of this one)
Better on my second review. floral citrus, tangerine, bitter pine. Leans sweet coast with a nice bitterness. Sort of remind some of Founder's Centennial, but slightly lighter. (Rating: 3.94 updated)

Pleasant and exceptionally across the middle IPA called “IPA”. Not particularly memorable or great but really solid and approachable.

An exceptionally well balanced IPA. The malt presence is perfectly supported by a piney hop finish. Not overly sweet or bitter, and an easy drinker.

This 12oz. bottle has been poured into a 20oz. glass. There is a thick head of pure white foam, just short of two fingers thick that stays at about a finger with thick lacing. The ale is slightly hazy, orange in color, with heavy carbonation.
The aroma is the typical citrus, strong enough to pick up at a distance and making it tough to notice anything else.
Looks like an IPA, smells like an IPA, and tastes like an IPA. The flavor is citrus up front with the crisp pine finish. I can pick up a little sweet malt in the middle
The feel is light making this somewhat easy to slip a few down after a day at work in the sun. There is something smooth about this IPA, the pine pucker is there at the finish, but this is not overly bitter and somewhat smooth. Thumbs up Lakefront!

This one lands in my top 3 IPAs of all time.
A great balance of pine and citrus with medium carbonation. It’s hard to not drink more than one. Enjoyed in elements!! The 6.7% alcohol is not noticed and will creep up on you for sure.
