a fresh'un here, bottled second week in march.

pours a nice fluffy off white head and amber oran...wait a second...god, look at all of the disgusting sediment!!!! black flakes prick the appearance. the bottom of the bottle sediment left dark marks on the otherwise nice beer. I realize this is 'beer au natural' you know, unfiltered and how it is supposed to be, but it makes me think bad things about my health should I drink it. yuck.

spicy hop scent up front, with a good dose of caramel and vanilla malt. a bit of clove and cinnamon in there, too.

okay, close your eyes...don't look at the pond water while you drink it...very understated flavor initally. slightly sour, even. the hops bust through on the back end, spicy and bitter.

bubbly and light, but sticky around the corners of your mouth.

well, I hate to 'trash' a beer, but this was...distracting. why not filter your beer? the appearance is really questionable. it creates a situation where this is a mild ipa, perfect for a starter/gateway beer, but the sediment, disappointing.

12 ounce bottle from Beer of the Month Club. I see the months of year on the side of the label to indicate the bottling date, but either nothing is marked on my bottle or I'm not smart enough to figure out how to read the markings above.

A: Cloudy hazy orange color with a slight creamy head that sticks around.

S: Wonderful hoppy citrusy grapefruit aroma greets the nose and grabs your attention.

T: Not as grapefruity as smell indicates. Definitely some hop flavors, but I get some pine and grass flavors. I also pick up an unpleasant metallic tinny taste, especially in the finish.

M: Medium bodied, above average carbonation

D: Somewhat disappointed, especially after the wonderful aroma. Maybe this was just a bad bottle - something I'm willing to give another try.

Dispensed from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Emerges hazy and a dark grapefruit color with a nice looking, one finger sized head. Pretty rocky and dense and plenty of lacing.

Aroma is very lackluster. Mostly caramel malt with very little hops. Sweet.

Very little hop flavor or bitterness. This doesnt really taste like an IPA to me. Very disappointed in this one. Maybe it is old or something but this was like a weak pale ale.

Served cellar temp from a brown 12 oz bottle into a glass tumbler.

Nice crystal clear copper color with a fluffy off-white head is very inviting.

Aroma is earthy and grassy with a hint of maltiness.

Flavor follows up on the aroma, earthy and spicy, maybe Fuggle or Czech hops. Not the usual piney or citrusy aroma of American west coast hops. Biscuity malt flavor. English profile.

Nice mouthfeel from the assertive but balanced bitterness.

A clean, plain beer, would be much better practically with any other variety of hops. None the piney or fruity hops mentioned in other reviews--is this beer a recent victim of the shortage?

Poured into a 12 oz Pint glass the beer has a dark orange or copper hue. The head was off white and disappeared quickly. It smells strongly of citrus. The taste follows the smell and has a prickly carbonation. I found the malt in this beer to over-power the hop profile. This would be an OK session beer but I would not search it out.
