pretty impressive for almost a macro, this is the best ive had from lakefront. this is everywhere but ive somehow missed it. a hoppy red ale that drinks a little heavier than most. hazy amber in color with an oatmeal colored head with excellent lace and retention. the nose here is hop forward, bitter, and rich from the grain. the alcohol content is also somewhat of a surprise, being as robust as it is for a release like this. maybe i had the wrong opinion about these guys. their pumpkin is clearly a poor judge of what they are capable of. nice richness of feel, as the hops provide most of the flavoring and the malt more of the structure. a little dryer than expected too, i like the low sugars on the finish and the lasting bitterness. woody almost, quite good really. fuller body a sixer might be too big of a dose honestly. relatively impressed, and will look forward to more lakefront stuff when it comes around. i wont wait so long next time.
